where do we do the next challenge?

Boys boys boys if you seen Jason dance Ya all would go wild like Wildewinds Mike. Why do ya all think he brings the camera .Hey Mike we expect you to join us like always for the dance .. The pics would be for our eyes only. I even know of a place that we shall go if you all are man enough to climb strawberry mountain at Angeles forest.
 
Seriusly, I think Jason, Mike and Sasha will do a great job in the testing. I've hung out with them a few times and all kidding aside, they're good at what thetever they do. Guys let's get down to business and make the rules so I can start making a knife.

I suggest we set a firm due date and have the testing done as soon as the knives are in.

This is gonna be awesome to see the creative, artistic, and practical neckers made by the participating makers!! Let the games begin!:thumbup:
 
I'd say Specs would be max 7" overall. The time set should depends on how busy you knifemakers really are ;) Don't want it too soon, but don't want it too far away, either.
 
Max of 7" sounds good to me, I think it should end Oct 31st. That gives makers 2 months and won't interfere with KITH, will you SoCal'ers tell us the tasks you will put them through or keep it a surprise. I need to get going on this ASAP! :D

Edit: 2 Months seems long to me, but is seem on most of these... people want to extend the finish date

I just did a quick read through and wrote down all the names I cought that said they were interested. If I missed you jsut say so, and if Your on here and don't want to be...again jsut let everyone know.

That being said I counted 11 people saying they wanted to make a knife for the contest.

I have to send mine out for ht but if I get it done in time for the month deadline I'm in.
 
The deadline isn't set at a month, yet. I think it should be longer, personally. I can't remember what it was for the challenge last year but some people were pushed to get their blade in.
 
Im good for a month or two. Lets split it and say Oct 15th?
 
That might work for me too. I'll just try to get something out within the next week or so.
 
Let's go with october 18th in case someone (like me) has a weekend rush or one of the guys gets a Monday sheath delivery.

I am good with 7 for a max oal.

I would like to suggest a 4 tiered scoring-

Ergos
Blade performance
Sheath system
Overall

This gives the ability for a separate sheathmaker to get some individual points. (Probably won't have any effect on sierra unless she finishes her move in in time. )

It also gives raw scores for various heat treats and geometries.


For a given task, you can rate in all four categories....

Mods willing, a temporary sticky "wip and entry photos" thread for the makers.

Then a separate thread for the challenge abuse/judginh/russian porn.

Keep entries open until deadline. If someone jumps in last minute, great!
 
I suggest whatever deadline we set be a firm one. Last time I rushed to meet the deadline only to find out knives were being accepted weeks after the deadline. The 7" OAL sounds good to me.

I agree with the standard caveat of post office delays due to whatever broke the post office on a given day.
 
Well ill say this, mine will be ready as soon as scales arrive,so say monday, mine is tempering as we speak ,i wont be late,lol i have had pics took of w.i.p. Aswell thanks bill
