Which company makes your favorite edc

Gerber. My Multi-plier has been the definitive EDC for decades.

Followed by Victorinox. Three Classics, in succession, have been attached to my keychain over the course of 30 years.

Variably, in my more recent "tryout" phase, it goes Kershaw, Case, Spyderco, Buck, and Hogue for the recently produced knives I'm liking most. I just found a real strong contender in my first Demko, too. There are also my old favorites from Western, Schrade, and the like, but those brands ain't what they used to be.

I can't think of the last time SAK Compact or Spartan could not do what knives are for - plus a lot of other things. So one of those is a constant. I usually carry a locking folder too. Spyderco, Buck and Benchmade fill that bill for me.

I was a Cold Steel guy for a while but ended up selling most of it and my other import brands. My typical EDC knives are:

Carothers DEK1 or EDC
CRK Umnumzaan
Koenig Arius
Benchmade Adams’s

EDC for around the house or light duty. Adamas around the house.

Elevated carry for me is the Arius. The Zaan has found it’s way in my pocket more than anything else.

The DEK is usually a second blade more often than not.

I feel like Spyderco is the Wrangler or Levi’s of the pocket knife world. Dependable, excellent quality for what you pay, not too crazy expensive, “it just works.”

Just skip the Byrd knives. Don’t even touch them with a 10 mile pole.
Spyderco found that proper heat treat is what makes the knife. Their heat treating for main stream production knives is amongst the best. But im not saying anything that others havent said before.

Benchmade, even though I have very few. My avatar knife is my most carried. I have more Spyderco's than any other brand & they are carried often. Kershaw/ZT would be 3rd I have most of, not carried much though for some reason. I only have 2 CRK's. I usually grab one of them a few days a month.

Their ergonomics also deserve praise. I absolutely can’t remember where I read this, but to paraphrase, apparently Mr. Glesser designs his knives for the hand rather than the eye. Or basically function over form.

And I agree with that based on handling the knives. The Para 3 and Tenacious are small knives, but it’s amazing what they could do even with limited knife handle real estate.

Over the years I accumulated quite some nice EDC's and I rotate them quite often.

But from a pure carry frequency point of view: (These are the knives that I'll actively pick out my EDC box next to my Bed)

Small fixed:
Becker BK14
Thanks Knives' Custom Palmstone
Varusteleka Jääkäripuukko 85

Folders:
Spyderco (Delica, Endela, Endura, UKPK)
Victorinox (Climber, Camper)

I don't count the ones that sit in my work backpack (Becker BK17 + Ontario SP1 + Victorinox Rucksack (Slidelock version))
