Which Folder Would You Buy For $300

I'd say you'd be extremely happy with a ZT 550 and you could always buy a custom scale for it.

It will be an edc. Cutting everything from 1" nylon nautical line to thin gauge wire to canvas. My currents faves vary a great deal. I'm liking the Spyderco K2 , Slysz Bowie , BM 710 , BM Vicar and Lion Steel TiSpine. But I'd like to hear about any others you guys think would fit the bill nicely. I want to buy brand new as opposed to used.

Well if you liked the 710 the 810 contego makes a heck of a great EDC. It's a heck of a slicer, M4 takes a beating, and had an amazingly shaped blade

I just bought a new Spydie Slysz Bowie...an amazing knife. The sharpest production blade I've ever seen.
Even though I've had a lot of Spydercos, this is one you should take a look at. It is, to my mind, a Sebenza with a different blade shape.

If looking for a more professional look I would consider the Benchmade 761 Ti Monolock. If not maybe look at the Benchmade 757 Vicar or the ZT0620/0630 depending upon which design you like.

I was in the same predicament last week and ended up choosing a ta Davison custom slip joint over a used small sebenza.

ProTech TR-3 Manual Thumb Stud Titanium FrameLock is very smooth with a 3.5" blade and 4.5" handle.

Any Small Sebenza ($350 new; you could probably score one for around 3 bills if you watch the Forum). Here's my small 21 Insingo:

Man I love the look of that knife. If it feels half as good in hand as it looks in pictures, I'll probably end up buying the first one I see in person. I'm almost avoiding this knife so I don't spend the money lol

The BM 710 with m390 steel is a fine knife. You don t have to spend the whole 300 to get a great knife.
I m also very happy with my newly acquired Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter. I ve held the Slyz Bowie and been
extremely impressed. Possibly a Sebenza alterrnative?

Or do what I did and buy a Doug Ritter RSK MK1 in M390 for $140, use the money you saved to buy G10 scales and have a pretty awesome "customized" knife.

Wow , so many great suggestions. I'm glad I started this thread.

RamZar , that ProTech looks sick ! How's their reputation for quality , fit and finish , etc ?

Sonnydaze , the Slysz Bowie is in my top three now. I've read nothing but excellent reviews and comments about it. And I've been meaning to get a little more hands-on experience with Carpenter steel.

Whitty , the BM Vicar looks awesome. And that ZT 0620 is gorgeous. What does it have for steel ? I'm staying away from the BM 761 for now. I like the look of it but I've come across too much negative press about it. Seems too "hit or miss" right now.

I'm also wondering if the Spyderco K2 is too big to edc. Looks like a beast. Whereas the Slysz Bowie seems much more pocket-friendly. And the slimness of the BM 710 is very appealing as well.

Anyway , I'm giving myself until mid-week and then I'm pulling the trigger on one of these fine blades.

I came here to suggest exactly this. You could also go micarta or CF. Even most of the fancy inlaid ones would be under your max. budget.

If you want a jewelry knife, go ahead. If you want to spend a third of your budget on a fancy scale that's fine too.

The best knife out there for $300 is a Grayman Dua. Even used.

I would vote for the sebenza also.

I don't own one anymore but I assure you axis locks are GTG.

A sprint PM2 or Mille would also be a great way to spend 300 ish bucks.

I had some interest in them until I saw it weighed over 5 oz (in contrast, a Small Seb weighs 3 oz).

Just googled it and it looks great ! I've never heard of Grayman before. I'll have to read up on them further.

Here are several pics of my new Spyderco Slysz Bowie...a great knife produced in Taichung...which is famous for producing great Spydercos in fit and finish.
Note that it fits my "large" hand very nicely, and is comfortable. It is easily within your price range.

The second pic included, from top to bott, the Southard AVO, CRK large Sebbie, Bowie, CRK Zaan.

Great pics , Sonny. Question : does the Slysz Bowie have a small piece of the blade tang exposed when the knife is in the closed position to act as a glass breaker like the Umnumzaan ?
