Which Folder Would You Buy For $300

Microtech 129-5 Select Fire, reminds me of an AirKat knife without the $1000 price tag.

Stretch VG -10 , Stretch ZDP-189 , Stretch SB and put $10 in my pocket. Or a BM 710 and a Military . I don't think I would spend $300 on only one knife with so many fine ones around $100-150 or so.

Update : I decided to go with Benchmade this time after refusing to buy their knives for the last 18 months. I ordered a brand new D2 710. I've owned one before so I know I like it. I especially like the slim package that conceals a surprisingly big blade. As long as everything proves to be good on the knife (good fit and finish , centered blade , no premature Axis trouble) then I'm happy to be back with Benchmade.

I've never experienced any problems with my Benchmades in the past. So I feel pretty good about the purchase. And I already know which knife (knives) I want for next time 😀

Cold Steel Espada XL. Or, if I could find a reputable craftsman to do it in that price range, the same design with an 18h cent. period-correct ratchet locking mechanism, a carraca.

1+ for the SOCOM Delta... Especially if you can find the clip point model. Thats one I regret selling.

+2 i personally would get a zt 0550 + Manix 2 XL, or ZT 0620 + an endura. But the microtech is a good buy.

Hay that spyderco shopping cart screen shot looks very tempting.

The Benchmade 940-1 and the Lionsteel SR-1 (with the aluminium handle) would be very high on my list, and both sell for a good deal below $300. Beautiful, well-constructed knives which represent excellent value for the money spent.
Something more high-end at $350 is the CKF Sukhoi. They are hard to find, but they are gorgeous knives with incredible quality. Definitely worth looking at.

I know you said you don't like flippers, but the Stedemon Bastion is a very nice package for just over $300 (I think it is $336), but you get a nice big S35vn blade, a sculpted titanium pocket clip with ceramic ball for retention, CF inlays, and what is truly an excellent flipper.

I could also be tempted by any of the Cold Steels with the XHP steel. Didn't care for CS before because of the AUS-8 (no matter how well done it may be), but with the XHP they have become a lot more attractive.

I received my brand new BM 710 today. And I'm happy to report that it is indeed perfect in every way. Blade is perfectly centered , Axis lock is super smooth with an authoritative click when opened , fit and finish looks flawless. The blade is very sharp. Excellent purchase.

I was prepared to spend $300 on a knife but I got just what I wanted for about half that. This also signifies my return to Benchmade after a brief "hiatus".

At $300 the Three Sisters Forge beast is a great knife, I love mine. At $250 the Southern Grind bad monkey is really cool. When spending this kind of money, I prefer something unique vs a gussied up production knife.

I have both of these and like them both but the TSF is my favorite by far, even over my CRKs. If you decide you want to try something later I would strongly suggest giving it a try.

Benchmade 940-1 or 940S-1 (serrated), venerable 940 in carbon fiber with stainless steel liners, S90V reverse tanto blade, 2.44 ounces, 3.4 inch blade, 7.87" open, 4.47" closed, blue anodized barrel spacers, reversible tip-up pocket clip, around $267! Don't see how you could do better for the money in that form factor. Love my 940S-1.

I do very much like CF and S90V. Awesome combo. But the 940 does not appeal to me in the least. I just don't like it. But for the money it's a decent deal. Although , for $67 less , one could get a Yojimbo2 with S90V and CF. And that knife I find extraordinary. I already own numerous Yo2's in S90V or else I'd have ordered that one.
