Which folder would you take?

A Queen 4 1/4" Cattle King (stockman)

Big enough in the hand to be comfortable
Lots of blades from tough cutting to fine work
The main clip is long and the sheepsfoot and spey are big enough for seious but fine work
The D2 stay sharp a long time

I will not baton with it

I've posted this pic before but these are the only two folders I have that get any pocket time. I would trust either one.

If limited to just one, it'd be the Vic Farmer. If not including multitools, Spyderco Paramilitary.

If I limit myself to my current collection and to single blade folders, I'd probably take my EKA Swede 60 with me.

Is that a crack across the pivot on that EKA Swede 60? Is it holding up OK? Looks like a great knife, but I'd worry about something like that if I had it out in the woods with no backup.

I'd want a steel with good rust resistance and and good edge holding, which makes me think of M390 so I'd say the BM 710 in M390, plenty of blade length, rust resistance, strong lock, should be able to stay sharp longer than S30V, 154cm, AUS-8, etc. If SAKs are included, then One hand trekker or Alox Pioneer Harvester (instead of farmer, because the extra blade would probably come in more handy than a Screwdriver/can opener out in the woods, unless for some reason you took canned food)

Victorinox One Handed Trekker, primarily because it has a blade, a saw and an awl and it is very easy to sharpen.

Well, of the ones I own, it’d be my 0350, CRKT M1 Lightfoot, or CS Recon1 (older ultra-lock model). All are stout folders that would hold up to some abuse if need be. All of these are in my rotation and thus one of them is in my pocket every time I hit the woods (though of course other tools come along when I’m planning on heading into the woods).

0350 would be my first choice I guess (EDC pic; don’t smoke, but started carrying a lighter a couple months back, comes in handy:thumbup:)

EDIT: I see multi-tools are fair game, in that case my Leatherman Charge

A Gerber Suspension if multi-tools count. If I couldn't have a multi-tool...then a Buck 110.

For a large single blade folder, probably my Kershaw JYD. Big, stout, easy to sharpen yet holds a good edge. I wouldn't baton with a folder, but it can do everything else I'd need.

I carry it everday, along with my Skyline.

Multi-blade, it'd probably be a Leatherman of some sort. Or a large outdoors pattern from someplace like MooreMaker.

John Greco folder 3 3/8" carbon steel blade that's 3/16" at the spine, or SAK Trekker plain edge.

My GEC Cattlerancher. Very tough stockman pattern in GEC 1095. It's my edc and most used knife anymore. I trust it too.

When taking a knife into the woods for hard use, I generally pack a fixed blade. But for a folder, I would trust the Cold Steel line, the Recon 1, AK-47, or the Lawman, they are solid tough knives, easy to sharpen with a DMT Diafold or pretty much any pocket sharpener and they are not that expensive. Great option, but one of many excellent choices out there.

Two weeks to test skills? I like my SAK Spartan, but I might take my Myerchin rigger, just because is is a little beefier.

If I were heading out into the woods with nothing but a folder I would probably bring either my Kershaw JYD with composite blade, ZT200 or large 21 sebenza but if I felt compelled to take a traditonal knife I would take my Opinel #12
