Which folder would you take?

The Kershaw 1050 Folding Field served me well for many years. Absolutely the strongest lockback I have ever used. Although I was leary of it's handle strength when I first bought it in the 80s, the Gerber Parabellum is what I carried for several years. The BM Rukus is a good one and there are many others out there. My next one to try is the ER RAO.

My old Case large folding hunter with two blades or Buck 110, Those two knives have served me well for many years. They are up to the task.

I would take any of these...

If it HAD to be a folder, I'd use my Rajah 2. Big, tough, and if I ruined it (unlikely) I wouldn't be out hundreds of bucks.

All great knives and great performers. I picked up a new Buck 110 for just under $29.00 about 8-months ago. Can't beat that deal anywhere.

I've got two of those, one was my uncle's and the other I got as a teen.. Still have love for them as well...

I'm a HUGE Spydero fan, so the Manix jumps to mind, with the Manix 2 right up there.... but without my Leatherman "kit" (Wave, Fenix. 3/8 firesteel, firestraw, Hood's Woods whistle), I have to go with my old Puma Gamewarden... superior (IMHO) to the Buck 110..... both a sharp sturdy blade and a functional saw. If we are only talking single blade, I might do OK with my newly delivered (15 minutes ago !)
BM111H2O; this thing is a ROCK, axis lock, N680 steel (corrosion resistant), and is shaped to excell at virtually everything except stabbing... sorry, no pics, since I am apparently too old and/or stupid to figure out the process...

Getting old is a real bitch, until you consider the alternative.... (Anon)

As for me, a long term choice would be either of my EDC soldiers (alox), or my griptillian if it needed to be a single blade. I considered my Vic huntsman, but I don't think it would serve well for extended use, due to the thickness and handle shape, same goes for my SOG power-plier. That said, if I found myself with only one of any of them, I wouldn't feel to under-equipped. I feel that knowing the limits of a knife can make it just as useful as having a knife with no attainable limits.

When I go fro hikes in the woods or backpacking, I always carry a fixed blade, a strong folder and a SAK. Typically my folder is a BM large Grip. It is strong, I don't care if it gets used and abused and it is light weight.

From June 7 to 22nd I was up in the Seqouia Nat'l Forest last summer with only my CS AK47, ultralock, great knife, served me well for camp duty and various other chores.

I still have my original Buck 110 that sold for the grand total of $6.99, and I also have my second which was still under $10.00. While a good knife I did not care for the brass pivot pin and how quickly they become loose. Not only the pivot pin but the lock and eventually the blade to bolster fit. In the late 70s and early 80s the Kershaw 1050 became a common upgrade with GIs but at a far greater cost. The Buck 110 is a real classic, and saved Buck from going out of business, but it pales by comparison to the 1050. Kershaw hit a homerun with this one but I guess the price is what killed it. If you like the 110 format try a 1050 if you can pick one at a good price. You will not be disappointed.
