Which knives from your collection...

An untrained Windsor woman did it with a folding knife she bought because it matched her purse.
There were two male attackers.

It ain't the knife, it ain't the gun...it's the mental determination to be going home at the end of it all.

Hmmmm...an untrained woman with a folding knife, sounds like....(snaps fingers) what's that term? Oh, right, a statistical outlier. Rather like a well-made handgun using quality ammunition somehow suddenly suffering a catastrophic failure. In fact, my own determination to be the one going home on two feet at the end of the dance is the reason I carry a handgun, along with a knife, and it's the reason I still practice my martial arts training.

That said, I think we should follow along with your statement about determination being more important than any tool, by REALLY getting this topic going: "When armed only with determination, how would you defeat multiple armed, determined assailants?"

The prac-tac BS should get good and properly deep in short order.

Extreme brutality and a hefty dose of good luck.
(hopefully you used up all your bad luck getting into a situation where you are unarmed and being attacked by multiple armed, determined attackers...)

It's always a game of odds.
Anyone who thinks they have taken the element of luck out of things merely because they have a gun/knife/baton/training is deluding themselves.

There are no guarantees in life...other than there being no guarantees, that is. ;)

Oh yeah, and if the above doesn't work, you die.
Yay!

I can agree that there are no guarantees. I don't believe that there are in anything in Life. That said, being prepared and practiced DOES help tilt things in your favor, even if only slightly.

Also, my answer would be: completely naked except for a pair of steel-toed boots. I mean, what psycho is going to want to fight a pasty pale guy with his dudejunk flopping around, right?

Guns are not always the answer when you are in a room full of people that want you dead.

You kidding me, my Saiga 12 would be my choice for such a scenerio. I'd give that place a new coat of paint. With or without pants on.

Explosives.

Yes to this.

Charlie Mike, from your posts and pics, you always strike me as the type of guy who'll put on sunglasses, casually light a cigarette, then turn away as you toss the Zippo on the ground, hitting the gasoline trail you've laid out. Then the building explodes, the wind buffeting your trench-coat as you walk away...never looking back.

But that's just me.

You been watching too much Jason Statham movies... I'd call it in from a pay phone.

LOL

I love this answer I couldn't agree more, however if you could choose which would it be?

It's almost like people here forget that their knives have the ability to cut flesh, and rather easily I may add if you have decent sharpening skills. It's not as hard to slash up a bunch of people as you may think, and no you don't need martial arts training. In case you suffer from short term memory loss or think that only a third degree blackbelt can penetrate human skin with a sharp object then let me help you out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/13/alex-hribal-mental-state_n_5141991.html
