First big knife I ever bought. My Busse basic 9. Many other nice ones have come and gone but I have kept this one for quite a long time.

Right now it would be my BlackJack 125 along with a slipjoint pocket knife (probably a GEC or SAK). My leanings change at about a 6-month frequency. In the past, it would have been a Randall. My Fallkniven F1 also gets a look. I don't know why, but I generally don't choose customs for this kind of question.

I'd have a VERY hard time choosing just one these days. However my HI M43 Kukri has already served that purpose over a very long uncomfortable stretch.

My Koster survivor would work. My Tad Lynch custom 52100 chopper would definitely be a top choice. Paired with a smaller blade. Most likely a Swamprat Rodent Solution or my Ratmandu.

I'm a bit old fashioned but I could live with my KABAR. I know there are heavier, fancier, etc out there but it never let me down.

I would depend on any of my ESEE blades without a problem. My 5 would be my one choice though as it was meant for survival and I can't see it letting me down.

He said "swedge" not "hedge":) I vote Swamp Rat Battle Rat, only because it's one of the few "big choppers" I own at the moment.

Of the knives I currently own, I'd have to say my Condor Hudson Bay.

Hard decision. Perhaps the knife I have depended upon no matter how tough the going for more than forty years? I have plenty of other knives, both older and newer, but this is the one I have found that I can depend on. I've used it long enough that I have tactile memory of it's size and shape. I can use it in the dark and know where the tip is. It is only made of old 1095hc, but as you can see, other than the patina, it is as good as new in spite of years of use and sharpening. The Delrin handle material is pretty well impervious to anything other than fire. Schrade Walden 165OT Woodsman.

Still, it is fun to occasionally play with newer knife designs and steels. But what works... works! :)

I had that exact same 1650T about twenty years ago. Lord knows what happened to it.
