Who actually carries a Buck 110 daily?

Yes, getting back on-topic...although I have several 110 variants, none are sharpened...so I carry a 560 w/BG-42 blade that another Forum member must have sharpened (thanx, John!)... :D

...But I need a good sharpener, so I can start carrying some of what I think are neat 110's... ;)

What works good on my 440C blade 110 is an EZE-Lap 1"x3" diamond hone. They sell them in the sporting goods section of Walmart for about $6.

In the 110's pouch I made for it, there is a small hone pocket that can hold either an EZE-Lap or a DMT mini-hone. I usually keep a fine grit DMT in there. The DMT's are very lightweight, a bit shorter and 1/2 the thicknes of the EZE-Lap, but they are not as readily available over the counter as the EZE-Lap hones are.

On my belt every day is a Buck 110. I own a landscape company and it gets worked pretty hard every day. I cut seed, lime, fertilizer bags, trimmer line, junk that gets caught up on mower spindles and trimmer heads, scrap decks, pull soil samples, etc with it.

mrostov,

I notice in the pictures your 110 has sort of squared off edges. I have only a 2005 model and it's more rounded.

Did the edges on the old 110s used to be squared off like that?

I acutally kind of like it. ;)

I carry a Buck 110 2 dot squared bolsters every work day. On the weekends usually a 560 with BG-42. I may throw into the rotation a 186 I won on ebay last week for $98.00.

Sounds like you scored a good deal there!!! :)

It was a risk considering a feedback rating of 10 but I had to go for it. It arrived today. At first I was a little freaked out. When I pushed the release it stayed down and moving the blade was difficult. I took it apart and found what looked like copper shavings mixed with glue everywere. I used brake parts cleaner and a tooth brush to clean it up. After reassmbly it was like new. The only thing wrong with the piece is someone polised the blade close to a mirror finish which most likely throws the collector value out the window. Oh and no extra screws or keychain/tool.

When are you going to the PI?
How many 110 units you taking?
Bring back some Patis. Man, I love that stuff.
You can prob get a a pallet of that for a 110.
We'll be going over late August of next year (so my wife has informed me) :o
I'll be taking four 110's with me; one for each of my three brothers-in-law and another for a cousin of my wife who works hard on a four hectare rice patty and often has to fend off the cobras.
My wife says she doesn't really care for patis. She prefers soy sauce. If you like, we can bring some back with us. Now let me figure how many Buck knives it's going to cost you. :D

I have several of which the last purchased is the most used one. It opens far more stiffly than any of my old ones which I could open 1 handed with thumb pressure. I close it roughly the same as Pack Rat, backwards against my thigh. I have to admit to carrying my Vic Champ more lately though the 110 is my afterwork and weekend knife.
Damn! Now I feel guilty about not carrying my 110 24/7.... Pobricito! Where is my Precious? Look, the nasty ol' SAK is put away in the dark box.

Merek, I wish that your knives could talk. They look like they have a few stories. ;)

I carry a 110 with me each time I pull my pants on...except, for example, Easter dinner this past weekend.

I wish that I had one of those old 110 version #5s with the squared-off brass and wood, because I believe that my grip would have less chance of slipping. Just hold it with those squared-off corners in the joints of your fingers, and there wouldn't be any twisting or turning unless one accidentally hit something hard. The rounded wood and brass just don't seem like they give as good of a purchase on the knife as the squared edges would....

I went through a phase a few months back where I carried a 110 daily, but I just don't like the sheath jabbing me in the gut whenever I get in or out of my car... and I really don't like extra stuff on my belt anyway, so the 110s usually sit at home as part of the collection (they are the collection).

But for the past three days I've carried a 110 just for the hell of it.

Tuesday it was my old no dot, three liner that my grandfather gave me about 19 years ago. Yesterday it was a near mint (after some buffing) two dot that I scored at a flea market for $15 a few months ago. And today I carried my new Alaskan Guide 110.

Tomorrow I'll drop my beloved little maroon micarta 503 in my pocket. I know it's nothing special, but I like it anyway.

It is Friday, jeans day, at work so today I have a 110 with me. Most work days I carry something a little more sheeple unfreakmeout. The watch pocket on my jeans holds a 110 just nice.

I've got more respect for you now, WilltheBarb! A 2.25" SAK fits into my jeans watch pocket...a 110 fits alongside my wallet...! ;)

Well, hm, we might be talking about different "watch pockets," what with the country/language differences.... ;)

Same pocket, different pant maker. The pocket in question on my pants goes right to the left side of the main pocket. It is wider than the one you pictured.

I don't know if it counts but when I'm in uniform, I have always carried a 110 on my gun belt (small town Police Detective). Most of the "older" guys still do. The younger crowd has gone to the multi tool look.
