It will have to cut it out first,, we'll see on this one.:)

Hey I'm resurrecting this thread. We got a lot of new folks in Shoptalk recently. It helps to know your names, so we can respond to your questions better.

Wulf. That's my last name. Derrick is my first name. Some folks call me Dick.

I'm a part-time hobbyist of a knifemaker. Pretty new at it but I seem to be coming along. I'm an apprentice in the ABS, but I don't sell knives. I don't intend to sell anything until my work reaches a level that I am proud of. Who knows, I might just wait until I earn my JS stamp in a few years.

I live in Essex, Vermont, and work in Burlington at an office job.

In the meantime, I'd like to add that I probably feel like I "know" most of you much better than you know me. I read this forum quite frequently, but rarely do I post here because, frankly, I simply don't have the knowledge and experience that most of you good folks do, and I probably have little to add.

So now that you've got me yapping here, let me take the opportunity to thank you all for the abundance of information you've been so generous with in this forum. I have stacks of printed out text from discussions that occurred right here, and all your tips and technical expertise have been invaluable to me.

I hope to see many of you at the Blade Show.

Oh, here's a picture of me in my workshop. That's a 300# Fisher I'm bangin' on, and a NC Whisper Lo-Boy forge in the background.

Look forward to seeing you there Wulf. Tess, Danny & I will be there looking to meet alot of the GREAT BladeForum folk.

I missed this thread when it started. Now that it's drug back up agin....

Coop747 or Blade 747 were my two handles on various forums. Since I, too, have a business interest in knives, I decided to lose the cryptic handles and stick with a good 'trade name'. ;)

Now and before, I ALWAYS had a sig line that spelled out my full name and I always take a moment to sign my posts. Just a courtesy thing.

Getting the name change processed here on BF took a little while, but it was worth it for me. Best bet is to pay the small fee and then place a call to 1SKS in the day. Talk to Spark personally. He's busy but a great guy—like the rest of youz. :)

Coop

T. Erdelyi short for Tibor Attila Erdelyi, my parents had a sense of humor, actually that name has been in my family for about 500 years they just kept switching the first and middle names, my Dads name was Attila Tibor Erdelyi.

Hey Coop, great to see you back up here. This is a great knife photographer and great guy!!! Look forward to seeing you at Stamford, Coop.

Hi, I've been reading here a while but only posted a few times so far. I'm Andrew Petkus and I'm a newbie forger.

Thanks for BTTT on this thread. Its great to see You new makers stepping up and getting known. Thats what this thread is all about.

Derrick.. cool pictures. I want that big anvil!

Coop 747, didnt you get that tag from doing the 1/4mi. in 7.47 seconds on a motorcycle?

well my first name is Brian...hence the bgoode :)

Nice to make your aquantaince my man Bruce!

Like some other members, I joined before I ever thought of making and selling knives. So.... let me introduce myself.

PropellerHead is a reference to my current and past professions. By day I'm a mild mannered computer geek, the kind that is often occused of wearing a propeller-beanie. I used to be a helicopter pilot/instructor, also a position where the propeller is above the head. (is there a smilie for that?)

Now that I'm making and selling knives, I can let the cat out of the bag and tell everyone that I'm Mike Routen, newbie knife maker. :D

Thanks again Bruce for bringing this to our attention.

BTW Bruce, we met at OKCA on Saturday and discussed hydraulic presses. I'm really interested to see the final pictures of the piece that you're currently working on!

Thanks,

- Mike

it's Dan Dan Gray
no matter what you hear, I am not a part of the CIA
it is my really name
but that peter or don guy I don't know about him?? :D

Now wait a minute Dan.....at least I don't post as Darren Ellis who is named Emmitt Smith and if I am not mistaken has an even bigger sense of humor than I!

On the forums I usually use my real name. Don't think I would post anything I wouldn't stand behind so why hide.
Haven't decided on an avatar yet.
