Who are You?

Dunkle Hollow is probably Pittsburgh or something

I beg your pardon Kit, I never go that far north. (I did fly over Penn once though)
Dunkle Hollow is about 15 miles notth of reddish knob in the George Washington National forest. It's a hole in the mountain about 3 miles across and is the thickest laurel I've ever sen. Great bear hunting.

I adopted my username about 10 years ago when I was working as an independent consulting geologist and shayden was taken. It has sort of stuck ever since. Note that my name and location is in my signature line.

Ah, well. The name's J. D. Roaden, but I tell ya, I'm rather partial to Zal. That's what I went by at the last Blade Show anyway. :)

Then again, I don't make knives. At least not yet, at any rate.

My nick comes from an era when psuedonyms were more popular than real names by far. I suppose I could put my name in my sig. Can't hurt. ;)

I just like the fact that people who refer to me only need to remember three letters. I can't think of a time anyone's mispelled my name (ala Pen*ive), so it's working.

Dan G. Gray, please tell me you are kidding that your middle name is George.   I should be Gary.  I am going to change my name.

sorry IG
it's been handed down as a middle
name from my grand dad to my oldest boy.
four generations, it's older than you are  :)

I've used tmickley (for Tracy Mickley) since the early 80's when I first connected to Ward Christionson's BBS at a whopping 300 baud. Anyone else call in there back then? Just habit I guess from those days when it was good manners to use first initial, last name. The software couldn't handle spaces in user names back then.

My Name is Ricky D. Finch. I just used my iniials when i first joined, dont know how to change to my name.I haven't posted in a while, but check the site a lest once a week. I'm a part-time maker. Been selling knives since 1995, I sell most of my knives at our local festival and have done a couple knife shows. I,m in the process of moving everthing out of my old shop into the new one. I can't wait to have room to turn around.I do everthing myself execpt for heat treating, which i hope to starting doing sometime this year when i purchase an oven.

My Mark is my last name inside an outline of Kentucky with a dot were West Liberty is.
I thank this web site is great.

I'm Brett Schaller. The "A" is for Anthony, my first name, but I've gone by Brett all my life.

For those of you old enough to remember the program, my parents named me after Bret Maverick.

Well I was not clever enough to think of a nic name and usually you know your in trouble when some uses your full name Reginald Kimberly Ellery coming from you mum,the cops or anyone in a suit and you know your in for a world of hurt.

Reg Ellery will do nicley.

Ricky,
If you are in West, by gawd, Liberty KY you must be close to JW Smith. If you haven't said hello to him, you been missing something.

Awesome thread! Thanks Bruce.

I've been surfing the internet for over 10 years now and when I first started I had a seperate user name and password for each forum I was a member of. This was a result of the paranoia of identity theft and stalking generated by the media in the early 90's.

Later on, after forgetting usernames and passwords I stuck to one for forums and accounts. Watakipoma (a nickname from playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons in college) was easy to remember. That's been my handle ever since.

It was also going to be the name of my business, Watakipoma Forge; but a gentle slap upside my head from my fiance convinced me otherwise. She has better business sense than I. ("Why spend your time explaining your name to customers when you can be selling product?")

However, I like my nickname. It's good for friends to know both your real name and nickname. Besides... my last name is way to confusing to pronounce (This helps sort out bill collectors and salespeople when they call... heh!!!)

Great Thread...I started out using my business name...Roycustomknives....which in a way I kinda regreat because alot of people call me Roy, which is my last name...I have posted my real name Rene Roy on the bottom of all my posts since day one...but I guess Roy is easier to pronouce then Rene (rainy)..:D

your right Rainy..this is a cool thread...:p :p :D Chisel was a nick i carried most of my younger years thru school... kinda stuck with me... my name is Joe Brum... im a Knife nut,and lovin it!
Peter Nap (Pan)...dude you got me freaked out! :D

This is so cool! I am making friends left and right! Im writing a list of your given names on a list to take to the Blade Show. Maybe this year I can meet Ya all. Thanks people. There is more I think.

Tom Mayo is "The Walrus" ?

I guess Roy is easier to pronouce then Rene (rainy)

Rene I was guilty the first time but thankfully figured it out fairly quickly. But naturally I've been mispronouncing your name all along...

"Rainy Roy" has a nice ring! That'll be easy to remember too.

Dave

Well Mike, if he weren't so dang cheerful all the time, that might stick - but Rene is just so positive, you'd almost have to call him "April Showers Roy." :D :D And somehow I don't think he'd promote that a lot. :D

Dave

Very cool thread.
My given name is Michael David Anlage.
Oz comes from a nickname derived from my SCA name, Osbourn Wolvesbane Hrothgarson. Since most of my customer base comes from gamer and SCA circles, I'm sticking with it. I'm also in the situation where everyone that knows me knows me as Oz, and I sign my blades with it.
And Tracy, I used to log on to Prodigy and local BBSes at 1200 baud, so I'm just about there with ya. ;)

Hey I resemble that remark!!! :D  :p   :) :D

Ohhh. I didn't think you looked like a Renee very much.

Anyone remember the thread about the Asian's contacting knife makers from here with fake credit cards? They now have a whole bunch of new names to use. :D

This would also probably be a good thread for a Bounty Hunter to see.

Well, My name is James Eric Gibson. My mom called me "Ricci" since birth. I have been known as Ricci and Ric since. Then when I started wheeling and dealing everyone used to call me Tricky Ricci, Trick or Trickster. I started out at Chevytalk.com in the early days as junkcarsrock because I always have 10-15 junk cars at a time. Cool cars, but junk. :D So to keep everything straight I signed up here as junkcarsrock. Then I didn't visit Chevytalk for a long time and they switched stuff around and I lost my JCR name and had to reregister as Trick. So I switched it here. I have been buying grinders and mills and lathes and stuff and still don't have the shop done yet. Now need concrete. I should have it done soon if I get some warm weather to pour some concrete. Till then I am not worthy to use my real name. So I will stay with Trick till I start doing more than piddling. :D
