RENE or Rainy Days?????

My name is Ronnie.
I use the 'handle' "blade runner" because Im a jogger (exercise, you know, can't allow myself to get too fat) and I always carry a knife with me when I'm running in case I get attacked by a vicious dog or something.
I just used the 'handle' when I signed up because that seemed like what most everybody else was doing at the time.
Good thread.

I've been to John's several times. I started making knives them found out about John. John show me some things to help improve
my knives.

Well I'm Guy Thomas, and I've had that in my byline since the start. I am registered on many forums now but this was the first and didn't really think about it at the time. I use my name on all the other forums.

I've also been trying to get Spark to change my user name to my real name for close to a year now. Me thinks he must be a busy man!:D

Hi
My name is Dan Campbell, and I spend way too much money on knives.
Thats what my wife makes me repeat every day in front of the mirror.
Its just Dan, and I am pleased to meet everyone!

From J. Neilson's advice I joined with my real name. I've used handles since the early 80's on CB and BBS's, and it graduated to the Internet later on. But as J mentioned for name recognition, starting out in here and on other forums where I actually WANT people to know who I am I decided to break with tradition.

Mickley, I can completely relate, my first BBS's were 300-1200bps. ASCII graphics, then ANSI. I Co-SysOp'd many PA BBS's in the late 80's and early 90's. The Internet is great, but sometimes I just miss the simplicity they held. (Still no kitchen set on your site I noticed ;)

This has been a worthwhile thread for everybody. The full and part time makers are surely going to benefit with "Name Association" and I have my list of 45 people that are my new friends. Please stop and shake hands when our paths cross at shows. This thread is winding down, Im sorry to see it go but Thanks for all who read it and all who posted.

Well, I wanted to go ahead and throw my two cents in here while I had a chance. I am not a knife maker yet. I hope that I will be able to earn that name at somepoint soon. At first I used a different screen name here but after a while felt that I should change it to my real name. Not so people would put my name to knife work but because if I met many that post here I would be honored to know you and would not want you to call me by anything other then my name. Unless you used one of the nicknames I have picked up over time, but that is another story. I live here in Atlanta and look forward to the chance to see and meet many of you in Atlanta. Maybe I should think of a way to bring my cat along so you can know who I am right off the bat. Thanks everyone. Mark

I'm just putting the finishing touches on a concealed sheath for the knife, for a IG that will be deployed soon.

I haven't replied to this thread because I've always used my real first name. I wanted to change my name to something more masculine when I was young but, by the time I was old enough to change it I didn't want to. I had fought for it and it was earned.

I mostly make weapons for theatre and the occasional film. That just means that my work is intended to be seen from at least 10 feet away. If you would like to see my latest, a cannon, check out this site.

I'm still hoping that there is some way to meet the people on the list at the Blade Show. I attached a note to my tag at the last show but no one commented. Is there some way to get everyone together for coffee or a beer?

Hi all, my name is Luke Smart. I've been a part-time maker for more than 15 years. This is a great thread that is sure to benefit all of us. My part-time making is actually no-time knifemaking with my family and work, but occasionally I sneak out into the shop and pound on some steel. I haven't been to any kind of knife show in about 8 years. Sooner or later I will and my little forum buddy list will help me put some faces to these names.

Hi Graymaker, that's my Dave Beck "Tracker" (Wilderness Survival Knife)in the picture with me. I'd like to see your sheath for it. I had Scott Hendryx make me a nice kydex drop leg sheath for it.

edited because I can't spell:(

Nice job, I really like that design! I ended up getting the kydex sheath for mine only because the hook portion of the blade "unzipped" the stitching on the leather sheath that came with the knife.

I'd love to see some pics of your sheath being worn.
