Who carries a lighter, but doesn't smoke?

I don't smoke, but I do carry a Zippo around sometimes to amuse myself with Zippo tricks or if I know I might need a lighter. Usually I carry it around dry and kind of use it like a Balisong drone.

I started carrying a Zippo when I worked in a lab for a year; it's much better than a stupid sparker for lighting a burner. I learned how to self-light it, and have carried it ever since.

I don't smoke but I have mini Bic in my keychain and carry Holy Hawk butanlighter( refillable and has a very hot, blue flame) in my pocket. I carry my zippo at winter because butanlighters don't work very well when it's cold. Zippo works always, only problem is that it needs to be refilled sometimes.I also have a disposable lighter in almost every jacket. I'm thinking of getting one of those mini torches. I carry lighters because you never know when you are going to need one.

I've carried a Zippo on and off for the past 4 years. Most recently, I bought a slim SS version that I'm not sure if I like it yet, but it does take up alot less pocket room. I don't smoke, but you never know when you'll need a lighter.

I've carried a Bic lighter as part of my EDC for the past 25 years.

I change them out every year.

It's come in handy for lighting birthday candles, fireplace and woddburning stoves, sealing paracord, and the cigarettes of hot women in the bar.

Whenever anyone asks me why I carry a lighter when I don't smoke I always answer, "Because I'm a pyromaniac of course....".

I'm another non-smoker lighter carrier. I always have a disposable in my pocket and I have a zippo in my vest that I keep in the truck. I am surprised by how often I need fire!

I carry my Zippo all the time, dont know why never really get a chance to use it. O'well my friends get a kick out of the tricks I can do with it.

I don't smoke. Occasionally I'll carry a Zippo on my person, but I already have too much junk in my pockets. I do have a bunch of disposables stashed all around in my packs, pouches, and man-purse. :o You never know when you might need one.

I do not smoke and carry a chrome zippo, and a cheapo disposable lighter. My EDC philosophy is that man should never be without firemaking tools, and I have a lot of friends who smoke (my boss included who was rather pleased that I had my zippo today :D )

I have a Brunton Helios (storm proof) in my Fatboy allong with wooden matches and a cigar cutter....I

I don't smoke but carry a lighter or matches. That and a knife are your two most basic survival tools. I never leave home without them and a bottle of water.

Never smoked, but I always carry fire. I've edc'd a blazer micro torch from 1997 right up to this spring (torch still works great). I've been using a Brunton Firelight since then. I also bought a Zippo a few days ago, and I'm waiting for a Z-plus insert to go with it.

Don't smoke, but all my friends do, and they never have a lighter, and I'm always prepared.

I have carried a spy capsule full of matches for 3 or 4 years now.

In the past year I've started carrying a cheap butane lighter too.

No real reason, I dont smoke and I generally dont lend it out to people who do

Be prepared :D

I carried a brass Zippo for a while but didnt like the idea of carcenogenic lighter fluid constantly leaking around my groin area...

I was going to carry a Zippo for emergencies, but was told that they leak pretty badly. For the record, I don't smoke.

Don't remember where (maybe here!) but I once read you can wrap a zippo in saran wrap if you are going to keep it for emergencies. This will keep the fuel from evaporating too quickly. Obviously not a practical idea for EDC.

IMO zippos arent worth carrying for emergencies, they are too heavy and the fuel leaks. For the weight I would pack 2 - 3 disposable lighters AND probably 50 - 100 matches

Disposable lighters are pretty reliable, although probably ultimately not as rugged as a zippo, but I've never has one leak and I've never had one fail. I have disposable lighters that are years old that still work. I have matches that are over 10 years old that work fine.

Think about how many disposable lighters are made every day, its like the BIC biro. Its no cross but its as near perfect as you will get for a utilitarian writing instrument.

Just got the kitchen scales out

1 zippo weighs 46 g

2x full size flint wheel disposable lighters and 2x regular boxes of 40 matches weigh 43 g total.
