Who carries a Stockman

Carried this Case for at least 25 years!

Now I got to many 2 carry just one for any length of time. ;)

I own more stockmen (4) than any other pattern. The one I carry most is an Uncle Henry medium stockman model 897UH. It's got a lot of miles on it and is one of the sharpest knives I've ever owned.:)

If my place was buried in a volcanic eruption, 1000 years from now an archaeologist would say, "hmmm... appears his name was Stockman." Well, you know, Case, Schrade Cutco, Schrade Walden, Boker Solingen, Carl Schlieper, Kabar, Ulster, Camillus, Queen, Schatt, etc., etc. They are all my well-loved little children. Today I carried a Ken Erickson peachseed jigged and a Boker gumfuddy (among other interesting items).

Can't go wrong with an 881!

I have used the same old Schrade 881 as my every day user, since 1973.

These two look like they would be OK for users one day!

You have carried the same knife since the year I was born. Heck I can't carry just one from one birthday to the next. My hats off to you sir. I guess when you find the right one you don't need to look anymore.

Here's my meager collection of stockmans, minus a GEC Calf Roper. The only one in this pic that I carry is the Case 6318CV. The Craftsman has never been used. It was made by Schrade I believe?

The stockman is one of my very favourite patterns. My most carried one is this lovely piece by AG Russell. BG-42 blades and it walks and talks like a dream. The quirky variations with the blades always make me smile. It's a shame that AG doesn't sell these anymore.

Those quirky blades make me smile, too. I especially like that little nubbin of a spey blade. Dare I call it "cute"? Love it!

You know, that may be my favourite blade of the three. I'm surprised how often that little guy comes out and saves the day. The small, round shape is good for all sorts of things. All in all, this Russell is my most carried traditional knife right now. Love it!

This thread got me thinking of stockman patterns, so I wisely gave in to temptation and grabbed this one. I have never owned a Buck knife before and I have to say that I am impressed.

I remember Knarfeng saying what a great value these were and I really have to agree. Holy moley is it ever sharp, too! One of the best 35 dollar knives I have owned and superior to some costing much more. This one will be getting major pocket time this week.
