Who else EDCs a fixedblade?

So I got the Tops mini scandi. It sure is small, but the handle is just enough to get 4 finger grip. The handle is quite thin, though, so I will take some gutted paracord and wrap it round the handle. Maybe use some glue too.

The sheath is almost too tight. I shortened the sheath slightly to make room for the wrap, it did not diminish the retention too much. The blade is really sharp, cuts paper cleanly. So I like the knife, it is just the right size to carry in the pocket. I have some ideas about customizing it further.

If you get a chance, please consider posting side by side comparisons to a few common knives. I've had that knife in my cart multiple times but always back out because online I read that the handle is either "just enough for 4 fingers" or its "for sure a 3 finger knife" and I can't decide if it's large enough or not. Thank you!

that's a nice knife (dalefuller's BRK Mini Aurora).. I have the brk featherweight fox river for weekday edc, but the g3 has replaced it.

here's a pic of it from knivesshipfree

Thanks, man. I really do love the new mini-Aurora. I had thought long and hard about a featherweight FR but I have a mini-FR already and I just have a real preference for the Aurora-style spearpoint blade. So the new mini-A was a no-brainer for me, esp. when I saw that DLT was shipping them with that crossdraw style sheath.

Funny you should ask... I was surfing some knife sites the other day and I saw the Mini-Aurora at DLT Trading with... wait for it....

... a larger version of the Mini-FR / Essential sheath. It can be worn either vertical or slanted for crossdraw. It won't go 45 deg... I wish it would. Probably hangs at about 20-25 deg forward slant.

I had the sheath EEP coated when I ordered it, then I coated it with Neet's Foot Oil and set it in the sun with the knife in it to form it. It's a perfect fit now. I like crossdraw for my FBs so that's how I wear this one. It's a bit bigger than the Essential sheath, but same styling. It does have a fire steel holder but I removed it on mine when it came. Got no use for a fire steel holder.

Thanks for the insight, Dale. It's definitely on my short list...

For now, I am still digging the Obake:

This thread has made me interested of several small fixed blades. The ESEE Izula and Bradford Guardian 3 in particular. I would like to get something that fits the front pocket or could be carried either horizontally on the belt or IWB. Izula 2 might be just a little too long. Of course Bradford cost's twice as much as the Izula.

Bradford, being pointier, might fit my needs better.

The Bradford Guardian 3 will ride horizontally in the leather sheath that comes with it. There are also a couple of optional kydex sheaths available that can be configured for horizontal, slanted, or vertical carry. The G3 also rides pretty well in a Sharpshooter pocket sheath available from Knives Ship Free or DLT Trading. I believe it's the mid-sized pocket sheath that fits the G3. I have both the Izula and the G3. I prefer the G3 as a carry knife. The Izula stays on my Maxped bag in the car.

The G3's blade profile is outstanding for the kinds of cutting/piercing I have to do. A very sharp and stout tip on a fairly thin and sharp blade. Works for me, every time.
