Who else EDCs a fixedblade?

I ALWAYS have a small fixed on me. That Bradford may well have to be added to my collection. How much does it run, usually?

The Bradford Guardian 3 will ride horizontally in the leather sheath that comes with it. There are also a couple of optional kydex sheaths available that can be configured for horizontal, slanted, or vertical carry. The G3 also rides pretty well in a Sharpshooter pocket sheath available from Knives Ship Free or DLT Trading. I believe it's the mid-sized pocket sheath that fits the G3. I have both the Izula and the G3. I prefer the G3 as a carry knife. The Izula stays on my Maxped bag in the car.

The G3's blade profile is outstanding for the kinds of cutting/piercing I have to do. A very sharp and stout tip on a fairly thin and sharp blade. Works for me, every time.

What is your opinion of the G3:s handle, how secure does it feel when stabbing? Is there a risk of running your hand on the blade? The handle is well contoured.

Stabbing? Well... um-m... I, uh, don't stab things?!? I do use the tip to pierce things like blister packs, cardboard, and packing tape when I need to, but actual stabbing I don't recall ever having to do. I will say that between the finger choil and the deep contour at the bottom of the handle, I can't imagine running my hand onto the blade. Also, the handle is 3 5/8" from the front end of the choil to the top of the lanyard hole. That's just enough for me to get 4 fingers on the handle and wrap my thumb over the top of the handle. So my thumb would help prevent any forward slide of my hand if I were stabbing.

The handle scales on the G3s are also a bit "tacky". Not rough and not sticky, but tacky enough and textured enough to make them very secure. Honestly, I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as comfort, ergos, and security when you're using the G3.

It's hard to imagine leaving home without my G3 ;)

If you get a chance, please consider posting side by side comparisons to a few common knives. I've had that knife in my cart multiple times but always back out because online I read that the handle is either "just enough for 4 fingers" or its "for sure a 3 finger knife" and I can't decide if it's large enough or not. Thank you!

With my Enzo necker. I can get a 4 finger grip with Enzo, with TOPS not really.

Dales' right on the money with this comment. The Pocket sheath he's referring to (I believe) is the "Pocono". I have carried the G3 in this sheath and it fits fine.

Also, Bradford is now restocked with the "3d" scales for the G3, which I believe are considered to have better ergos then the standard G10's

^^ Thanks, brother. These are a "must-try" for anyone who carries small fixed blades.

How is the handle though Derek? The scales look like they have very little contour or bevel and might be a tad uncomfortable? That was one of the things that stopped me from trying one.

Any knife without a guard will have a higher risk of running your hand on to the blade and is not ideal for stabbing cuts.

Nice scales. Do you offer any more contoured ones like those? That's one of the things that has stopped me from trying the G3. Those look quite comfy though.

Edit: I just found the new 3D models on your site. Great idea, I always thought the normal ones looked like they needed more contour. Now, if you would just make a limited run of these in FFG:thumbup:

Thanks! We still have maybe 2 FFG in M390 that we can put any of the 3D scales mounted on.

^^^ That's a good looking G3 up there, Bradford! The contours look great, but, honestly, I actually find the standard "blocky" scales to be quite comfortable. Here's a look at my black-green G3 w/ coated blade from today:

Oh, and someone asked about prices... I paid around $160 for both of mine at BladeHQ. Totally in the ballpark for a USA-made blade, IMHO.

I absolutely love the texture of our original scales. The 3D is not meant to replace the standard, more just driven from customer input and a natural progression of the design :). I still think that the original texture might be more "secure" for any heavier EDC use
