Who has an "AL Mar" Knife..?

I like Al Mar knives, I find them to be well made and the style very appealing, that being said I own a Hawk w/ brier wood-scales and a Jigged Boned Eagle Talon.

Old thread , I know .

New addition to my meager Al Mar collection . :o

Older discontinued AirWeight Sportsman , ats-34 and only 2,36 oz.

Endura for size reference .

A nice "table knife" , for cutting salami and peeling fruit .

I had 3 of the Warriors but only 2 left as I sold one on here about a year ago as I try and keep only 2 of the same knives and a Spydie Warrior sits with these 2 now. I just like the style of the blades and they are just safe queens taking up room.!

I have a fully serrated Ultralight Falcon. When I first got it, the thin handle and light weight made me think it was a toy. But I've grown to appreciate the high quality construction; absolutely everything is put together perfectly. Sure, it has bottom of the barrel steel and a slightly flimsy feel, but it really is an excellent gentleman's folder all things considered.

I have the Al Mar S.L.B. Aside from the steel being Aus 8, it's the best little big knife around IMO. The steel is no problem for me given the size and ease of sharpening, but some think the steel isn't worth the price. It's not cheap, but the quality is outstanding. I would easily spend the money on another Al Mar knife. And I'll probably get another S.L.B. as a back-up/replacment.

Some old Al Mar and new Shrike.

I don't know what model it is

nor the wood on the scales,

but the quality is high.

It has original pouch marked with Al Mar chop... in camouflage

SLB, Eagle, & Nomad. These are the only Al Mars I have but all are well made. I think the criticism about the steel type is overblown. I haven't found it lacking.

Had an Eagle Ultralight and just sold it. Great knife, very well made and pretty unique. I only sold it 'cause I have bought so many others lately.

I have a Falcon and a Shrike. The Shrike is probably the sharpest
knife out of the box I've ever had. I had a SERE 200 that had a
vertical blade problem the factory tried unsuccessfully to fix; I sold
it to a friend who fancies himself to be a knife maker and he could
not resolve it either.

I have several Classic Al Mar Knives. Unfortuately, some of were not well cared for and it has hurt their collectible value, but there are a few that are still in good shape. Of that group, the most interesting are a Vulture with excellent scrimshaw on both sides of it and a Buzzard with scrolling in the brass work by Valde.
I have pictures of the Buzzard but I don't see a way to attach it to this post.

I have had Al Mar Sere 2k and was not impressed. Heavy, with overbuild handle and short blade. The liner lock had a play - in the new knife! So I have traded it off.
All that said I think Al Mar are good knives - I have just picked a wrong model. Quite like their fixed knives people have shown in this topic. Have to think about it...

I've got a couple Al Mar Eagles. One's an Eagle Talon from the 80s, with the nice black/brown micarta, and one's an Eagle Talon Ultralight from the brown micarta run a couple years back. Here are a couple snapshots, for your viewing pleasure. :)

I got the SLB when I was on a small blade kick. It was pricey for its size, and every so often I regret it. But then I slip it into a pocket when wearing dressier pants, and I'm glad I have something so small and light. It cuts well too, but I'm not going to be skinning any moose with it.

i'm glad someone brought up this thread again.
when i was taking inventory of my various collections and decided to take pics of my al mars seperately, i wanted to show em off and asked for others to show pics of theirs, but the thread was passed away into oblivian.

so maybe this time i can make more of a contribution to the al mars collectors club. . .
