Gary,
REALLY nice assortment. I notice though that you proudly displayed that Sebenza with no inlays! :) I LOVE that Criswell. What a beautiful flow of function and form!

Thanks, yep that Criswell is well thought out, not too expensive either...

Contact Win Heger as he had one or two I think...NJedge@aol.com

As to the Sebenza, yah I REALLY need a wood inlay Classic!!!

Did you notice that I had it laying next to another similar knife? :D

At this point it would be my large regular sebenza (pheasant tail) for a folder. My Dozier pro guide for a fixed blade.

Woah, woah woah G2, it's easy to blame your addiction on these forums, but is it possible your sheath making might be a part of the problem? I mean it would be like a guy that was trying to kick a Foot Fetish getting a job in a Shoe Store. ;)

Maybe it's because my knives don't come as fast as some folks, or that I've never got into trading knives, but I have several knives that could easily be IT for me within a certain style. My Pronghorn is probably the best hunter I'll ever own. I've got two linerlocks in stag; my Washburn was made to my design and it's still exactly what I want. When I bought my Carson M4 in Stag & Stellite, I figured I had linerlocks covered. Then I saw G2's JW Smith Dagger for sale, and I told JW when I had the money and he had the time I needed one like that in stag. So Gary, you see you're part of the problem.

The other thing is being a part of this comunity it's easy to get to know and become friends with the makers here. I'm at the point now where if I only bought knives from friends whose work I admire I'll never run out of the next IT Knife.

BTW G2, that Carson is begging for a sheath, when does my number come up?

I hear ya Phill! Know what you mean and in regards to your number, you should hear from me mid next week, there are a couple ahead and your ticket comes up!

I am always looking for the next "THE knife". In fact
I found it yesterday. I purchased a M.O.D. Pointman,
which reminds me of the two other "THE knifes", the
Microtech socom and Vector.
The quest continues...

I found my perfect knife, then learned of another maker. Then FINALLY found that perfect knife, only to learn of yet another Maker.

Will you guys PLEASE stop making such gorgeous knives, this is getting frustrating:( :(

For today, my perfect knife is just not perfect any longer. I am still looking.

I know precisely what you mean, because I have been trying to whittle down my collection for years. I'd ideally like to reach the point where I have basically one "do-it-all" knife but I doubt that's a possibility because it seems as if I'm constantly trading off one advantage for another, such as portability for added weight, ease of sharpening for durability, and so on. Another tendency of mine is to purchase several make and models of the item I am looking for in order to discover which works best for me. While this approach does have its advantages, it leaves me with unncessary inventory.

Frankly I envy those among us who own only one _________ (fill in the blank) because it would sure make life a lot less complicated.

I have a couple of "the One" Knives.
I like the Chris Reeve Small Sebenza for EDC. I have been carrying one since 1998. I love it. But while at work, (Deputy Sheriff) I think my sebbie is a little small so I carry a Microtech Socm Elite manual. I love it too.
But like most, I am always searching for a knife that is
"A cut above."

I believe I have for a folder. In fact it isn't "The One" but it is "The Two". :) The only 2 folders I have carried since I got them are a Carson Small M4, and/or a William Henry.

I know that I really shouldn't be partial to just one brand of knives, but for right now, I am addicted to Spydies and my most recent acquisition could be THE ONE...for now anyways ;).

The knife: Spyderco C54 Calypso PE.
I received it yesterday and have to say that I am VERY impressed with this knife. Lightweight but strong Micarta handle, with 4" VG-10 steel blade. So wickedly sharp that it literally sliced a piece of skin, and more, off of my fingertip while I was polishing it up!! (OUCH!!)
I won't ever do that again!!! :o :(

I think that this is THE ONE, for me. (For now anyways...he, he;))

BTW, thanks for the pic, G2.:D

I've been pretty true to my carry knives. For several years back in the '90s I carried a Jimmy Fikes "CABIN BOY". The knife was a small fixed blade that I carried in my back pocket. Well, its gone to a new home, but I've managed to get another.

My folder for probably 8-10 years has been a Terzoula. I carry the small Wharncliffe with G10. This knife gets used everyday and holds up
remarkably well. I mean cutting real things not opening envelopes.
This might be getting retired in favor of a new Terzoula that is on the way. I'm lefty and I got the one that was for sale. We'll see.

I also, carry a Terzouls ATCF, in a lefty G2 sheath, not everyday but alot. Can you tell I like Bob's knives.

Win

Gary,
Yup.You ,I and most of the rest are doomed to walk looking for an eternity:D and that's a good thing. While I walk though I'll keep this one close by.

Well fellas, the more I've gotten to use this knife this past week the more it has really grown on me! A definite keeper, with a sexy grip of Desert Ironwood, steel of S30V that is sharp! and a blade length of only 3" so it doesn't scare the work natives too much.

About the only thing it needs is a new sheath, the one that comes with it is very well made, but too wide in my opinion and it attracts a lot of attention when I wear it at work, so normally I drop it into my pocket but that isn't very handy!

So now I have to email myself and setup an appointment to get a sheath done! :)

Here is another look at her, what you don't see is how nicely contoured the handle is, a very pronounced palm swell going on there, I added a different fob on the end...

Is this THE one? Jury is still out but it's pretty close!

Yeah, you know its pretty bad when not even a Mayo is the PERFECT one. Though you cant have mine, no way!

Hmmmm....
Wonder what would happen if we had all the BF custom makers do a colaboration!

Darrel Ralph Medium EDC. I also own a small EDC. I probably owned over 400 knives at one time (mostly German made collectible pocketknives with celluloid handles (300+). I sold that collection. When the "tactical craze" hit in 1995 or so, I went mad, like many of you and joined the quest for the perfect knife. I found it in the Sebenza for a couple years. Sold those too (owned four of em). Since I got the EDC, I really don't lust after much else. Sure, there are lots of nice knives out there to buy, but my budget only allows so many. I really want another EDC with Carbon Fiber handles. Otherwise, I'd like a Charles Marlowe tactical with those thick .08" thick liners! If I could find a knife constructed like the Spyderco Military (G-10 handles, nested liners) but smaller, I'd like that too. Never handled a TNT, but I wouldn't turn one down either. Otherwise, I'm quite content with my two EDCs. If you knew me (my knife friends can't believe I haven't sold or traded these yet!) you would know the obsession really can be arrested (even if only temporarily). Ha ha! It's a fun hobby. I'm saving my pennies for that next "must have". Leo G.

Well I thought I found the perfect knife....my Small Sebenza...then I bought a large....then I saw Gary's Scott Cook........

one thing I do know...when i do decide on the " the knife " it will have a G2 sheath to go with it.

For a long time I though my Reif Matrix was it, then one of my own designs, then an LCC D/A, then a Benzie, now I am going to back to the LCC D/A. Maybe next week.......:p

The Sog X-Ray Vision is high tech it has thick sharp blade and an arc-lock that both holds the knife in the handle for safty but also allows you to flic it out in a flash. This knife is a compeditor. It is the ultimate

It's been a couple of years since this thread saw the light of day and I was just thinking about it and found it.

The ONE knife, I do doubt that it will exist, but a couple of knives probably meet the needs.

My latest one that has passed the G2 test? A Benchmade 525, Mini-Presidio, plain edged less it's clip, just feels great in the hand, cuts easily with it's convexed like edge.

Check New Graham Knives, as they shipped it out very quick, good people there! :)

So for right now, this one I carry and like the overall feel and knife layout.
