Who plans on BUYING the BF survival knife?

I might be interested in a bare blade, so I can do my own handle and sheath work. Would that be an option?

A little competition never hurt anyone, so perhaps see how many makers are willing to put up a design and price. Maybe even a base model and limited edition model so those that can't afford the high end blade, can opt for a less expensive version. Then see by vote of the forum, which is the most popular and go with that one.

This is a darn fine idea! I like the competition, and I really like the possibility of the 'base model', such that if some folks (like myself) don't have quite enough cash for the all-out edition, we can still partake. Good stuff.

I might be interested too, but like many others I have to see what the design and price ends up being.

If would it some of the money goes to help the site - yes. Then again I wouldn't want it to be too expensive. I wish I had gotten the OMF knife that BRKT made but I was too late to the party.

Looks as though we have plenty of enthusiastic participation. Price, and design are always a factor.

If you haven't already, go here:http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469146 and vote for your knife design of choice.

Great participation to all. One we have a pattern figured out From the poll, we will have a maker (or five if we are lucky;) ) submit a Design based off the poll. From there we can get down to brass tacks on price.

Just don't make it with some sort of 'Rambo' cheesy imprint on the blade.
"Bladeforums Model 1" (or something) and better yet just a BF and a serial
number.

Having a choice of handle materials might be nice.

Count me as a solid "maybe", with price being the major limiting factor. I also approve of some money from the sales going to support BF

I also back the idea of having "basic" and "deluxe" models. In my mind, the "basic" is a ground, heat-treated, sharpened, and BF-etched slab of steel without a sheath; the "deluxe" model would include all of the "basic's" features plus attached handle slabs. It may also have a sheath and a snazzy finish to the blade.

This assumes that the knife, regardless of style, will be a full-tang knife. That's fine by me, as that style should help alleviate some cost.

There's my $.02 worth.

Positively maybe. Depending on all fore mentioned possibilities.
Now let's see some makers throw down with ideas.
