Who plans on BUYING the BF survival knife?

 Count me in...as long as it's got a full tang. I'd prefer to have a Scandi grind, w/ a good tool steel (I fear no rust).
Micarta slabs would be great.

Please count me in as well...

Are we far enough along to "guesstimate" a delivery date?

Thanks,

Docgra

So far we have two makers interested on doing the knives for us. Ironwolf forge (Ken) and NWA (Nick). I'm going to call these guys next week to talk this over with them and get their input.

Right now it looks like we might try and do two or three different designs.

Drop point, Scandi, and maybe a chopper. Not sure yet. I'll talk to the makers and respond on the other threads. From there will need all your input and Ideas as well.

I'm in for around $150 max...

Glenn

Thanks Tarmix & Tknife for putting this project together. PM me if you need any help.

finalize the design, post some pictures or drawings, and if they are reasonable in the cost, count me in. I know some are looking for high visibility, but I prefer black on black. (matches the XD :) )

I'm in for the 4-5" version, depending on the design, but $150 sounds like a good deal.

Something that just clicked into my mind, if the canadians buy this, its actually going to close to $200 dollars, But if it looks nice, I think it'll be worth it.

Maybe - depending on price and timing. OT is scarce right now but probably wont be by the time this is up and running.

Reading the various inputs I agree that there is a market for a truely functional survival knife (at a reasonable price). I have (as well as my Khurkuri) a jungle bolo. If the two designs could be combined, then you would have a knife that could handle any need. I have modified the bolo a little to make it more functional. Double edged the tip and created a 30 degree flat edge on the spine (for use on a flint). The problem with the bolo is; it is a bit light. The khurkuri has the mass for the heavy jobs and, let's face it, it looks great too.

Update so far. We still only have two custom maker interested in making the knives for us.

NWA and Ironwolf. As mentioned I will give these guys a call early next week to discuss price, pattern, wait time, ect......

Anyone that has a relationship with makers willing to take on a project like this, please feel free to jump in.

Updates to come next week:thumbup:

Have a good weekend to all W&S forumites:thumbup: :D

I could be in, depending on price (<$150) and possibility of lefty sheath. Also, it is important to have a portion of the proceeds support BF.com.

Eager to see what pans out!

I have an idea/suggestion; One way to keep the price down is to make it shaker like or the option of a blank tang or completed blank and let us finish it ourselves. Your makers could do the design that is agreed upon, make the blank, heat treat it, profile it or not, then maybe just supply any hardware. This way everyone truly has a custom knife that we all worked on that fits our style/wants/needs, but it's just a thought/idea...
