Who still carries a Case Knife?

I have a few case knifes. I am trying to decide if I wanna start carrying them for use or just collect them.

I use many Case knives, a Baby Butterbean Sparkxx is alwys in my purse, and these days I alternate aa mini trapper Wharncliff and a humpback stockman. Except for eating (full size trapper is better suited), both can cope with any daily chore.
When in a garden then comes my seahorse whittler and the teardrop is pure eye candy.

Do you guys use the knife every day or is it for fashion ?

Definitely not fashion. Not in my case anyway.

I would also say a knife on my belt or in my pocket is using it, as opposed to the knife being on my dresser or in a dresser drawer. When you consider use, that is an all encompassing question, not just cutting something.

I personally don't cut something every day; I couldn't say how frequently I do. But that is beside the point. A knife will end up being useful, and you don't know how much until you need one and don't have it. That is the basic reason a person should always have a knife and maintain it even if it is rarely needed.

Fashion...I like that!
No, I use my knife every day it is not just decoration or an accessory. Sometimes my knife's activity of the day is as simple as opening the mail but it gets used:thumbup:
Now I will admit that sometimes I will match my knife to something else on me, like my carrying a wood knife when wearing my wood inlay wedding band:)

One of my favorites, as I just really like the silver script shield. Pretty bone, too.

You can do both. I have a bunch, so that would be more or less collecting them, but I use every single one at some point. I have some that I like more than others and some I find more useful. But they all serve a purpose. I always carry at least two blades. If there are people around me and the situation calls for it, I'll generally use my Case. But I'm not going to use a Texas Jack to cut an engine off a pallet or in some other hard use scenario. That's where a PM2 or something similar comes into play.

What's a good way to clean a case knife? Is there a special kind of oil or cloth that is good for cleaning?

What type of jobs do you use your case knife for?

Food grade mineral oil (found in any pharmacy as a laxative) is good for the whole knife. Lubricates the joints, protects the blades from rust, keeps the handle material from drying out. Put a little on a soft cloth and wipe down the whole thing.

For me, I really don't have a need to "clean" a knife, but I can see it would depend on the user and the use. The most I might do is wipe the blade.

Jobs? Recent memory is food (cheese, apples or other fruit), string, rope, tape on shipping boxes, tie wraps, envelopes, tubing...
