Who still carries a Case Knife?

According to the people I spoke with at the Case factory, the Tribal Lock pattern is on hold. It could possibly even be placed into the vault. Apparently, they are trying to increase production of their top selling patterns. The Tribal Lock is not one of them. I have noticed the Tribal Locks sort of evaporating from dealers shelves. Better grab an extra one to tide you over, because it might be a while before we see a new run. It is one of my favorites, and one of Tony Bose’s best creations.

OldHercDude OldHercDude , beautiful group of Tribal Locks! Congratulations. There is so much I like about the Tribal Lock. It is a big knife yet so easy to carry. The pattern seems to conform to the shape of a pocket.

hornetguy hornetguy , it works out well for me that GEC uses mostly Carbon steel while Case uses mostly stainless. It gives me more than enough of both. But I get your point.

A bummer if so, IMHO. One of my favorites as well. The only patterns I have more of are Barlows and Teardrops.

As with most other Case models, I just wish Case would make more versions of it in carbon steel. Their stainless is a good, useable steel, but it just doesn't have the soul that carbon steel does.

I like the look of non-stainless steels as they age. But even with just 14 or so non-stainless knives, I'm finding the need to remember those and put them through a cleaning and oiling a bit problematic. As such, I'm leaning more towards stainless these days. They still need care, but if I forget a knife it usually doesn't matter if I give it a cleaning/ oiling a month or two late.

This is a great pattern, mine has a green tint to it from the liners, but wow, yours is something else! Looks well loved!
Thanks Rob, I strongly agree, the 32 is a great pattern! In fact I think the Texas Jack is my favorite Case pattern followed closely by their single blade Sowbelly. Ironic thing is, I only added those to the flock as a collector wanting the patterns. After using a belt sander to break the Texas Jack's bolster corners, I carried it regularly for quite sometime. It continued to grow on me until eventually becoming a favorite.

Didn't think I'd like a Sowbelly but when I got a single blade in hand... it was love at first touch.

There was another change in attitude for me that's connected to Sowbellys. It happened because I didn't usually go in for blade etchings. I already owned and appreciated a single blade Sowbelly when the 2016 Shotshow edition came out. I really wanted an ebony covered one so I purchased the single blade model below and later a 3 blade as well. Mr. Tony Bose passed on a few years after I acquired them (may he RIP). Now of course I'm delighted to have his signature etched on both of them.

Hopefully I've learned, at least for me, considering something is no substitute for having a long term experience with it.

It really is a great jack pattern! The sowbelly is another favorite of mine, I've got a few, one of which was with me for 2 weeks in Hawaii when I got married. You really have me wanting to add a single blade now! Thats a nice example you have there!

Thank you.
Your honeymoon sounds fantastic! Hawaii, a new bride and a sowbelly !!! 😎
My sowbellys are 3 single blade, 1 three blade. You can see where my allegiances lie, YMMV.

redsparrow redsparrow I knew there was something about that Texas Jack that looked, well, prettier. Of course the color of that aged bone is beautiful, but the sander to the corners of the bolsters really adds a classy touch. It’s a great looking Case!
