Who still carries a Case Knife?

Excuse my ignorance but can someone explain to me why the main blade is carbon but the sheepsfoot is marked SS. Does SS not stand for stainless steel? Maybe Case used multiple steels in this pattern commonly. I’m not up on my Case knowledge at all.

Looks to me like someone broke or ruined the drop point blade and replaced it with an older one (1979).
Notice the U.S.A. (periods after each letter look worn away) on the drop point is different than the USA on the sheepsfoot.

The heel and the bolster look like different year made and a lot more worn. Moreso than just because it was maybe used the most.

Also just the over all condition of the drop point is not as good as the other 2.

Since late last weekend.

I like the darker color on yours. I think I'm going to darken mine a little.

You definitely should.

It has some good tones in it though, and some dark brown leather dye should get you something close to the knife 315 posted.

I seem to remember a Campfire bone from recent years, is that what this is ?
Your's really reminds me of a roasted marshmallow.

I just checked, and this one of the Barlows that Case made in 2019. I got four of the variations they ran back then. A nice red jigged one, a blue maple, a bone stag, and a really nice stag. This one is just a bland saw cut bone, CV. I have some leather dye that I used on a Case stockman a few months ago, and it came out pretty good. I might just do this one this week sometime.
