Who uses their 'high-end', expensive knives?

wait, wait...what's the name of this Busse?

Thanks

My favorite EDC is a damascus and mammoth ivory folder by Brian Tighe. Although I'm not cutting carpet with it, it is commonly used to dress cables

It just happens that I cut a piece of damaged carpet in my house yesterday with my Hinderer.

Busse Basic 4 I believe from the photo. They made a thin version and a thick version.

I carry and use my Busse all the time. FBMLE is the most expensive user I have scratched up. All of them get used.

Im not a collector, but Ive always been a user. I used to think it was CRAZY to spend more than $50 on ANY knife... I still dont have any REALLY expensive knives, all my knives are very different prices... I have two cheaper knives, which I dont use as much as my other knives (Kershaw Storm and Kershaw Speed Bump), but the knives I use the most are these: Benchmade Griptilian 550HG, Zero Tolerance 350SW (my work knife, which sees the most use), and my most expensive knife is a Zero Tolerance 303. I also have a Custom Hunting knife which I had made for me, it hasnt seen much use, but only because I havent had the chance to take it out on a camping/hunting trip yet. I use all my knives, some more than others, but when I first bought my more expensive ones I was afraid to ruin them. But after keeping them safe and clean and not using them at all for the first few weeks, I realized I would get much more enjoyment out of them (and really get my moneys worth) by using them. I do have a slight fear that if I break or completely wear out my ZTs (in a few years more than likely) that I wont be able to find them for an affordable price to replace them, so I plan on buying a couple of backups for each of those two knives (over time of course.. Im not rich.. or even close). But to me, these knives are worth the money, and I want to keep them for the rest of my life, so spending a few hundred dollars for back up knives is money well spent IMHO.

I honestly still used one of my cheaper knives up until recently (only because my ZT 350SW was at the spa), I used one as a work knife (cutting down LOTS of thick cardboard boxes in a day), but it kept losing its edge before the end of the day. I got my ZT back about a week or so ago, and I still havent sharpened it.. or even touched it up. :D But after today, it needs a good touch up. And that is why I like to spend the extra money, better quality, better materials, and better performance. But honestly, I still dont see myself spending more than around $200 for any knife... until I get a raise at least.

Well, carpet was the nastiest thing I could think of. I once handed a knife to a fellow that promptly proceeded to cut a piece of sandpaper with it! Needless to say, I don't often offer my EDCs any more!

And carpet isn't what I normally cut with my EDC knives, I'd get a dedicated carpet knife if I did it often. It was just a case of deciding a section needed to come out and be replaced, and the XM was in my pocket. You're not kidding about carpet being nasty on an edge.

I do.

Though I wish I had harder tasks to use them on. Sharpening pencils with a 0560 ftw! Hate that something struck the pocketclip of my M390 Military, causing it to fall out of my pocket, open, hit the ground and blunt the tip.

Otherwise I use my ZT-9 blem to split coconuts.

I use some and baby others.

I will say that all of the knives I use are over the $150 threshold, but I have some much more expensive 'collectible' knives that I don't use.

So, who uses their knives that they pay upwards of $100 for?

I'm posting this the night before I go to buy a Spyderco Kris [I love kris style blades] and I'm not sure if it'll be a user or not, more likely an ultra-light use dress knife of sorts.

Me.:)
Buy the Kris and use it. I love that knife, and it cuts like crazy.
Buy them, use them. Use them some more.
Then buy some more.

Nearly every knife I own is north of $100. I have carried everyone of them, "Carried" but not necessarily used. I have some out of production Prototype series knives I bought, that see enough daylight to get a picture. Then there are the ones that I reach for without thinking. There are times I get to my truck and go through the motion of emptying my pockets to realize I have a knife in each pocket. When form and function meet as perfectly as some knives do these days, you can't blame somebody for using a $600 knife to skin a animal or open letters.

Yes I carry all of my knives and if they're being carried they're being used.

Mostly for EDC purposes.

I use every knife in my collection. My favorite EDC is a ZT560 that went for $220. I cant bring myself to pay that amount for something that is supposed to be super durable and put it in a safe.

I dont know why but I feel weird without a CRK on me, usually a plain 21. I dont like having a knife that is a "safe queen" but I dont have any crazy customs (yet) either. With that being said I do see some knives that i might think twice about using as an EDC.

This one is my heavy user. I also use a customized small sebenza pretty hard but that one doesn't show much wear.

I use nearly every one of my 8 Fiddleback Forge Blades and that is why I wanted a good high-end knife (well crafted tool)—to be used and feel good in my hand and be able to do the jobs I need them for with no complaints. Breaky Knives just aren't worth the money when it comes down to it. (Great pics everyone!)

I have a large Sebenza Pheasant Tail in BG42 that I have used for years as my field dressing knife. Have pics but I don't know how to post them:(

You can post pictures by uploading them to something like photobucket, then take the URL and paste it between
brackets. I'd really like to see those pictures of yours!

Also to anyone else who replied thanks for your input and pictures!

I'll try to upload some myself soon.

I pretty much don't use anything BUT my knives that are more than $100. Mainly my M390 Gun Hammer as my EDC, although I might sometimes carry the 950 Rift, or the ZT 560.

Everything I buy I use. I don't have the money to pay for something and not use it. If I buy it, I fully intend on using it.

I feel exactly the same way. I'm not one to buy something and have it just sit there. Almost all of my knives are over $100 but under $300 and I carry and use each and every one of them.
