Who uses their 'high-end', expensive knives?

Most expensive knife I own is the HEST Folder, cost 190€ over here.
It has cut cardboard, food, wood and a soup can so far.
Its a very sturdy folder, so why shouldn't I use it, its certainly wasted money if its just lying around.

I use my Horton chopper and Winkler axe right off when i received them.
Bought them for what they are meant for and they aren't a good conversation piece until the scuffs and scratches do the talking.

"Oh we love the videos and pics of how menacing these tools are!"

If a Starbenza or a custom knife from a retired maker is considered high end then I am guilty of using my high end knives.

Yes!

I was removing a drywall wall and needed something to score it with; I was too lazy to get something else so my Strider SnG got volunteered.

After I scored the wall I got a little carried away I guess... :)

Drywall is a b**ch to get off your blade.

I carry and use my Sebenza, Umnumzaan, and recently my 3.5" XM-18's

And as an electrician I think some of my use is boarder-line hard use, especially stripping some of the larger MCM aluminum underground wires as the outside sheath is some of the hardest insulation around, takes quite a bit of force to rip that off.

I don't take any reserve either, if that is the knife I'm carrying that day it gets used, no questions asked. If the edge gets damaged, that's why I have an edgepro. If it gets marked up, good, looks like it's meant to be used.

I use all of mine until I find something I like better, even then it's not uncommon to go back to my favorites. I always have either my zt 0350 or 0560 on me and its not uncommon to have the 0550 tucked away somewhere. The only expensive knife I have that didn't see much use was my zt 0301, and that is because it took me less than a week to figure out it wasn't going to carry comfortably on me.

I can't really afford $500.00 knives unless I set aside for a few months. Becker/ESEE are my best knives, along with some great axes. I'm quite happy with that. I love everything about ESEE knives actually, the philosophy, designs, materials etc. They just yell outdoors to me. Would I like/use a Busee or somesuch ? Darn right. I know that I'll get at least one of those whenever. Not much of a panic though when the others mentioned are so capable.

I used to baby my expensive stuff. Now I pay even more for things that I use very hard. They are not pretty, they are all about performance and that is what the money pays for...though I am doing more and more of the work these days so there is less money and more time expense.

Most of the new kids here though can't even think about spending $100+ on a knife to carry and use and get wear marks all over. Though they change their minds.
After a while they just don't care and we all end up EDCing our more expensive toys.
haha im a new kid and use a para 2 all the time im 14 though so i dont have money for a sebenza yet

I wish I had something as good as the PM2 at 14 years old. Put away a few bucks a month, use the Para till you graduate and then reward yourself with a CRK / something else nice. The PM2 is more than enough knife to last you :)

My most expensive knife is a pre-patent buck 184.

I'd use it if it were good for anything other than looking cool..

My favorite EDC is a damascus and mammoth ivory folder by Brian Tighe. Although I'm not cutting carpet with it, it is commonly used to dress cables
