wow, lefty! you just pissed on several parades in your last paragraph after posting about being surprised that others pissed on the tc's lol.
i do agree that there are certain favorite brands on here that always seem to get more positive traction, but i think your point gets muted a bit by the unneccesary brand bashing you used to illustrate it. i did laugh though for what it's worth

Wow I really am in disbelief of all the disgustingly negative comments regarding the OP's own personal little pleasure in life, who fucking cares if it is "shit"? Do you all really have nothing better to do? Hell, im still real new to knives and I don't know about the Maker of these tools here and I kinda was interested in asking to get clued up and learn some more like I enjoy to do on this forum but I really was thrown off, derailed by all the negative shit I just read

Congrats and enjoy. I'm in the BladeScout "Meh" camp. In my opinion. Looks balanced to be a chopper, not a fighter, and if its a chopper...why have a sawback?

As far as your expertise, you certainly do own some big steel....ever used any of it? Those coatings and finishes look pristine.[/QUO

The RMJ (recently recoated at Uparmored), the outdoors axe, the Busse NMFBM, the Charlie May, scrapper 5, Busse Hack, the Swamp rat hawk, and the 1311 from SYCO have all been used.. I must say I do like to keep a blade unused if I can. I do some backpacking and a bit of car camping. Mostly I buy blades that I can take with me on long hiking trips that are light (1311, scrapper 5, osk-1, outdoor axe etc) If they are light and can process wood, that's my preference. The rest rest are more likely no to get used. Just for looking pretty, posting on BF and getting tooled on :D:D

see what I did there, haha.. I was trying to be funny there with the emoticons.)

I didn't mean to say that I think Zt, CRK or Busse are bad in any way. I have owned and used knives from
each of those brands. They are just ones that came to mind. Most every page in general chat has like five
posts about "look at this new ZT" and tons of people jump on board. CRK's are very nice knives but when
someone gets an identical twin, just like all the others they still get support. The Busse thing was just about
the silly marketing, I used to own many Busse's I still have my favorite ASH1. They make great knives. The
point was just cause OP's knife didn't fit into those type of categories isn't a reason to take a dump on it, or him.

If 50 people can all make up something nice to say about a noob who just bought his first $10 knife from a bowl
in the auto parts store or the community can be so helpful when he's looking for his next knife I think we can do
a little better than what was posted here.

I've used almost all of my Busse knives and chop often with the NMFBM and newer Moabolo... The edge retention and ease of bringing it back to razor shop is unmatched in other steels I've used.

The MBB stuff I've seen looks like it's more for tactical than bush craft, but I'm sure you can make it work. I'm not familiar with their entire line, so there might be something that fits more into being a usable chopper- but I'll still lean to INFI after having success with it.

Admittedly, I AM speculating based on using one brand (Busse) and only seeing the other (MBB)... if you've used both Busse and MBB I'd like to hear how you felt they compared.
I have never used a Busse...but, then, I didn't imply anything negative about them, either.

As far as bushcraft, I guess we may have differing thoughts on what that term means. If it's just chopping to you, I've got a few MBBs that I think do it fairly well. Am I saying they are better in that capacity than a Busse? Absolutely not - I've never even had a Busse in my hand. All I know is that I've been happy with the performance of the MBBs that I've used. If it helps your case, I don't mind admitting that I got a slight edge deformation when a 7" blade hit concrete (with some force behind the impact).
Tactical? I guess they do market them in that manner, at least to some extent...but I could probably make a similar statement about Busse, lol.

I like my MBBs...but, if they were everything I wanted/needed, I likely wouldn't be so enamored with my RMDs and Wakis (and, no, I've never used the Wakis for anything other than "dry handling" and basic drills). One of these days, I'll probably end up with a Busse...or three. I think putting it up against my M4 would be interesting - which Busse model's blade is closest to 5/16" thick, 15" long, and 2" high?

Can't help but feel that if the OP posted a pic of the ZT dujour or the Bussee FLAMBAM in desert camo, all would be well in the BF world. We can't all like the same stuff, that would be mediocre and boring.

ah understood... and I do agree.
while I'm not crazy about the MBB styling, my friend sure likes them- so I was glad to see a post (with pics) that I could point him to.

MBB custom Bowie with Sawback and serrated bowie tip. 9 inch blade. CPM-3V steel.

This is an awesome blade. These guys make very very hard use weapons. They are players in the big leagues and I know because I own some very big league steel :D:D:p

The 90 degree angles at the blade/guard interface look like big potential stress risers to me. The "saw back" aren't really functional saw teeth unless you are talking about the teeth on a circular spinning saw blade with enough speed and torque to pull out large chunks of material; it looks like it would jam up in wood very easily. The saw teeth look like they might actually function well as cap lifters :) Also, it needs some holes in the guard so you can lash it to a pole, create a spear, take off your shirt, and run around like Rambo hunting pigs.

:D

I have a few knives that to others have no practical use, but aesthetically I like them. If you like it, then awesome. Would I get it custom made for myself? Probably not, but if I had the money I would have something like this in my collection. I plan on picking up:

Which most people would say is impractical, stupid, "Tacticool", or whatever you want to call it. But I've seen it used in a BDSM way for knife play and it worked perfect for it. So just because things don't work for one person is no reason to crap on things when other people do have uses for them.

Anyways, what I'm getting at is, I like it and would love to see video of you using it.

Also, if you have it because you like it, and it doesn't really serve a purpose, how is that any different then people who have high end knives that stay in the safe and never get use?

For your friend, then

Before anybody asks, only 5 of those had been used at the time of that picture, and none heavily so.

I didn't have this one when I took that shot

But. If you ask for peoples' opinions of it, and they give you them, it is not crapping, hating, or trolling.

I would agree. But there is a difference between saying "I don't like it" and "It's a piece of crap that serves no purpose". And even worse when they throw in personal attacks because they don't like it.

It's all good dude... I wasn't trying to imply a lack of performance on MBB, just didn't think it could match how the Busses had exceeded my expectations vs other blades in similar steels, especially with not having heard any real world usage stories on MBB. Still it's unfair for me to assume having not used both first hand.

I do a lot of clearing and splitting with mine and am surprised with how rarely I need to touch them up considering the abuse I put them through... I know there's more to bushcraft than that, but that's what I use the big blades for. I have smaller blades for skinning, dressing game, fileting, etc.

I think it's a little thicker, but a Busse MOAB would be pretty close to the specs you gave. I have the slightly shorter MOABolo which is an amazing chopper. I'd love to see a chop off between the two brands actually.

Sorry to derail the thread slightly... Cappy- want to get the MBB and Busse's dirty and test it out for us? :D

Marcinek, you are right...I was looking for feedback, praise, shared appreciation, plugging a great knife maker etc. But the first comment which I did challenge, was a straight trolling comment. It served no purpose. It didn't express an opinion about the knife, it didn't say if the poster liked or hated it. It was a cut at me and so I responded as the aggressor. I prob shouldn't have, but why be a total d$k for no reason other than to be a total d$k. Then you are just being a d$k for no reason, adding nothing to the thread other than d$kheadedness and so therefore that makes that guy a troll. so I called him out about it. I only call out trolls when I see them. your opinions are wanted (good or bad) and that's why I posted it, but trolling is being a d$k for no reason other than, well being a d$k......

Quiet, whats my count on D$k???

Just googled "BDSM" and clicked images...

You want to use that knife, for that??? Hopefully it's to free all of those poor ladies being tortured LOL

lol, BDSM is actually a VERY broad term that covers many things. Most of what you see online is not what the BDSM community is all about lol. But I won't go into that here. haha.
