Who Would Be Interested In Doing A Collaboration Classic Hunter With Me??

Michael I was thinking of write ups in things he has conections with
as far as I'm conserned you have the ball here and what ever you had in mind....:)

We need as much coverage as possible, the only problem is that with press time, articles need to be about submitted now for it to work. Do we know the who and how of selling this?

Harry -- feel free to toss in any thoughts.

Just seeing this thing happen is pretty exciting! :D

I vote for whatever Michael decides. Also,I don't want to see Michael bow out. Period! I have faith in you, buddy, and we are in this together. Our silversmith friend, Harry, has some very good input, and I am sure we all welcome it.Michael is an experienced and talented professional gentleman,so I vote for Michael to stay at the helm.

I must not have chosen my words correctly. Michael has been and is the writer. Harry is welcome as far as my vote counts to work with Michael as Michael deems. I hope I didn't stir something up.

Bruce isn't going to put the names on the blade so that part of it we don't have to worry about anymore.

Hi Michael,

I would gladly assist you in any way I can. I'll put togeather some ideas, and get them to you. I can also get in touch with some of my contacts to see what kind of interest there is in writing an article about the project.

A press release is pretty easy to put togeather. The angle - of so many masters working togeather to create the perfect(well, nearly perfect ((sorry bruce)) hunting knife might just get the attention of a few managing editors.

I'll put out some feelers and get back to you.

Harry

Hi all

I just finished reading all 28 pages, so I'm up to speed on what's what. Sorry I jumped in before reading all the posts.

Sounds like Michael knows his way around writing if he pays the bills by means of it. I wrote and lectured on visual optics and animal vision to promote my business - Camo patterns - in clothing and on arrows and bows. Roger - you might have used some of the arrows. I will still send a couple of ideas to Michael, but he's the expert in writing so I'll just support

Anyway, I did notice something in the posts that will allow me, if you all agree, to increase the value of the knife "package" by a couple of hundred dollars.

I could use the scrap pieces of damascus, mukame (sp?), and jade to create an awesome Bolo tie. I can cut and shape whatever you send me in those items and set them in silver.

Thanks for the positive responces and warmth and friendship extended to me by ya'll.

Harry
Just an idea --

Harry, that's pretty awesome!Hey,it is sure nice having you here, too. This is the best bunch of guys I have had the pleasure of working with, and free shots at picking on them. Well, almost! They shoot back pretty good, here!

Thanks John for making me feel welcome. There was a typo in the post. I wrote "Bolo" (a South American throwing device), it should be Bola.

I forgot to mention in my offer that some of the scrap black/blue ivory would make nice hanging peices for the bola tips.

How does the offer sound to the rest of the "Gang"

Harry

guys...sorry to butt in...

I haven't been following the thread much lately since I'm essentially the last cog on the wheel in this (certificate + photos), so if anybody needs me, please email me directly. Otherwise, I'm only going to check in on this every once in a while.

Harry, that all sounds very good to me. My only real concern is that there is not much scrap damascus left. I have four pretty small pieces that I heat treated. If they are large enough I could anneal them. They are about 3/4 by almost 1/2 inch each because I broke them for grain analysis. Please advise.

RL

Hi Roger,

Scraps are fine, even if they are small - I can cluster them; build each into it's own silver bezel. Once I encorporate any extra makume, jade and ivory - well you can start to see the picture. I could build a bola that would take any three of you just to carry. I don't need much in the way of scarps, even when they are small; I can build them into a collage using silver beads, rope, or other fabricated silver pieces to fill the bola.

I can see the bola in my mind already. On second thought you may not want me to build it - it might outshine the knife. Just kidding. I can guarantee that anyone in this project would be proud to wear it and the person fortunate enough to possess the knife will love the bola.

In my humble opinion.

Harry

Roger - PS

Annealing would make them easier to work with. Thanks for the thought. I'll e-mail you my address - in case the other makers agree that this is what they want to do.

Thanks for the opportunity to share.

Harry

Hi John,

boy, you are sure quick. This is my first attempt to chat. I guess you and I are the only ones here.

Nice to be with you.

Harry

Harry, I'll try to anneal them this coming week. I am also shaping jade liners and ivory this coming week. I have the jade scraps here with me and will include them. I will save as much scrap ivory as I can. I received your email and have your address. It will be every bit of a week and maybe more before I can send these to you.

I am guessing the rest of us are in favor of this.

RL

Thanks Roger - I'll be waiting anxiously. Bet I can finish the bola before the knife -- any takers

Harry

I have some of the Mokume left if Sean wants it back OK
if going to harry OK with me if OK with Sean?

Roger dont worry about annealing the steel, we can do it here but may not need to anyway as it will shine and etch prettier in the hard state. If Harry needs to bandsaw them we can anneal and re-harden.

Sounds good to me about using the "scraps" for another project, should be pretty cool. Damn this is just getting more and more exciting.:)
