Who Would Be Interested In Doing A Collaboration Classic Hunter With Me??

Roger I emailed Sean about the Mokume I have left
being it is his,
I wanted to ask first before giving it up, he agrees with me..
I have enough to make a set of bolsters
for one end or the other and thought,, before we cut her up
we should make sure the ones we have will be OK and
finished to the point of no return before we let it loose.
I'd hate for Sean to have to match it
later if something happened to what we have so far..

Roger are you grinding the jade ends with a little angle into them? I'm not talking the dovetail:)

Dan,

So now you know how I am feeling of late about the jade liners; the only'est ones in the whole universe:eek: .

Yes, I agree completely. Harry will understand I hope and I can still send him the scrap jade and the test pieces I heat treated. This stuff goes back to you from here so after you do the bolsters you can send the leftover pieces to him for silver smithing.

I plan to call you on the land line after 8:30PM this evening. We need to discuss technicals.

Remember to ask me about that grinding angle question. Is it for stress risers? I do not follow you. We'll talk.

RL

Hi Roger and Gary,

Whatever is leftover is ok by me. Like I said, whatever is leftover I can make into something. You know that leftovers are the best!, In food and other things.

:D Harry

thanks for the call Roger :D
smooth rolling...
and that's an AOK on the left-overs Harry.

ok who's Gary

IG's got everyone doing it now :grumpy: :D :D

Harry,

You might like giving some thought to this also: the knife will have a thong tube. Our sheath maker can provide a matching thong and there can be something special about the diameter of the handle thickness at the end of that thong.

I hate to press upon your genuine enthusiasim but since we have a silver smith on the team , why not. This way your work will be attached to the knife itself. What think? (who's Gary?)

Roger

Dan,

Speaking with you solved all my current technical considerations concerning the handle work. Thanks for your patience and we are rolling fine now. P.S., I figured out how to bevel the glassing boundery before doing any cutting or grinding.

My wife say's I can't see anything right in front of my face. Sometimes it's true.

Sorry Gary, I mean Gray, I mean DAN.

Actually when I was younger, my desk look like a tornado had set all the papers and other toys there; but I knew where each piece was. If Martty (wife - also known as Mary or Martha)(Mary Martha (Martty) Dela Rosa Knickerbocker)moved one scrap from the heap, I knew it had been moved. But now I need bifocals.

Anyway, I'll get it all straight in the end!

Hey Roger, good idea. I set claws, elk ivory, and other interesting and neat looking things in silver caps that can be worn as neck pieces. Shouldn't be too difficult to make something up. Any ideas which piece would look best? Maybe do some sort of collage of all the pieces to hange from the end of the thong leather, perhaps like a silver bola tip?

just yanking your leg Harry , :)
I've been called worse :D

Harry, I would not be the one to suggest what it should look like. Bruce or one of the others here have seen more of that type thing than I. Maybe someone can make suggestions. In the mean time see what Bruce thinks.

Thanks. RL

Last evening Dan reminded me the cut-out in the liners should be rounded at their perimeters to insure the glassing remain perminent. I just finished hand laping all 16 edges to rounded. Tomorrow is glassing day. After that is profiling. I intend to aggragate the glassing with atomized steel to give Dan's screw holes better wear resistance.

All is well.

RL

Shucks,Roger! Just like you said,no fear when you get your feet wet. ROGER POWER, that's what it is! I was scared of the jade when I realized that I was going to slice it and dice it.

Hey John,

I'm getting attached to this jade now. We need to talk about making a deal. Let's get some; you have it sliced and we split it up. I'll buy the jade, you get it sliced up. We split down the middle.
-----------

Okay, the glassing is done. I aggragated it 2 parts atomized steel to 5 parts glassing. It is curing very well but will not be ready for grinding until tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow I grind to flat and begin profiling. After that is dove tailing and then I can turn my attention to the blue ivory (thank God!). This jade is absolutely magnetic in appeal and I find it on my mind more often the more I am exposed to working it.

Unfortunately Saturady is going to be a dead day. That is Heart Day (Feb. 14) and I already promised the little lady I'd make her a home made pizza, wait on her hand and foot all day long and be her slave love puppy. It's only once a year but I just can't figure a way to post pone it without getting into real bad trouble. So that day is a total lose.

RL

Roger I can lend her a leather whip for her to use on that day
she may enjoy it( I'm not sure if you would ) :D
just in case you slack off that day:D

Roger, that sounds like a great deal to me! You get it, I slice&dice. Do I address the jade when I send it back to you as,"Love slave"? Your mailman would be pretty curious. Hey,you folks have fun!(As if I need to tell Roger that!)Mountain men have a reputation to uphold.

This is going to sound like 'the baby swollowed the keys' excuss but its true: The 8 month old kitten got out of the house Wed. afternoon and got run way-way up a big tree by a big ass dog. Been there for two days. Myself, neighbor, fire dept. couldn't get her down. This morning I paid a tree topper 50 bucks and he climbed up that tree like a squirrel and got her down. We've been up mostly for two days and I have not been able to concentrate on knife work until now. I did get them glassed and ground to the surface. Today I will start on the profiling.

RL

Roger you should have just got your bow out,,

just kidding, I've been up a tree more that once to get the pussy
down..been there done it.... :)

just shoot the Dog ;)

Dan,

Actually I though of doing that. Thought I might be able to shoot a ladder of arrows up there for her to climb down on. Bad idea, especially at over 10 dollars a shot. The tree topper guy was the trick. Damn little bitch cost me 50 bucks.

I have one Jade liner rough profiled and ready for the horizontal edge grinder. I'll dovetail after both are profiled. I think it best to leave them flush or slightly over sized until you get them drilled. When they are drilled will I be able to attach them to the blank for final profile or will I have to wait until the scales are fashioned and drilled?? I may be able to acheive a tighter profile tolerance that way.

I'm not going to grind any more today. Just too tired and fatigue from worrying about that cat for two days and nights is setting in now.

RL

One liner profiled. They will be angled at the back and then dovetailed front and back.
