Who Would Be Interested In Doing A Collaboration Classic Hunter With Me??

I'll do it. I'll try to get her boxed up but I will need the blank back when possible for Pop to use when making the case. I had to keep the blank behind to fashion the scales on but haven't been able to get back to her. I hate the delay and am sorry.

It won't take my Dad long to make the case.

no need to be sorry I know what it's like to be WAAAAAAY behind in stuff
I just want to help keep your project going...

I'll be a few weeks getting it done so if you think you can do it in that amount of time Cool if not , cool too. I surely don't want you feeling like you have to send it to me..I just like to get the non-paying stuff caught up or they just don't get done...I'm sure you're finding out this it's easy to get too much of that stuff up against you.
making a living is # 1,
when you sent it Roger
let me know what you are using for belts to grind the Jade, if you have some designated for the job you can poke those in the package too if you want or I may have to get a few new ones to do that job.. I can't remember how far you got with the jade?
and if you had to have special belts or not?

also can you send me the pictures of the bola Harry Made to put on the Colb page.. I don't think I have that saved..

The jade doesn't need any more belt wear. At this stag It can be hand lapped. What I did use was AO belts. SLOWWWWW and constantly WET with water. My poor Rob Frink horizontal grinder is upset with me over that.

Not as an excuss but as a consequence; when this project began I had no idea I would so soon become full time. I don't just feel like I've let the team down, I know I have. However, that is the way the dice came up.

I know she shall be superb upon your completion.

BTW, for the jade, using rogue (how ya spell that stuff?) was highly recommended as the final hand lap finishing abrasive.

it's not a let down by a long shot, you've already had a lot to do and have done on this
it's not like it's a pay job, it still has a place to go no matter how long it takes and that was the Idea in the first place.. :) .
you got the Roll of the dice right..we can't help that.. :( but we keep rolling with the punches right? :)

My job is to etch the mark and blade but I have held back ordering the stencil until it arrives here. I dont know who has it at this stage. I will wait patiently though.

Hi Guys
Roger still has it..
I talked to him a few weeks ago.. he really want to finish his end of it but has a lot of work on his plate. I told him I'd finish what little he has left..
he's done a lot on it anyway..I told him I was in no hurry because I have a lot to do also but, would get to it . so we just have to see if he is going to be much longer , if so he can ship it to me..to finish that part, it will be just about done at that point , then off to Bruce I think.?

Roger are you peeking???
ship her to me , and don't feel bad over it...

Okay, all is finished on my end now except for hand finishing the handle components and buffing. Expect to have all my end done and ready to ship to next guy this coming week. I spent all night on it and all components are in good fit and match. Looking good. Its a knife now.

Since I need to get the template blade back to Dan Gray I suppose I'll ship the whole thing to him. He can give the handle work a look see and sign off on it or not and send it on to the next fellow. How's all that?

Roger

Yeah, I'm still kick'n. Been scarce around here for a while though. Things aren't the same as they were when I just made a knife here and there for the fun of it. Not a hobby anymore.

The more I have worked on this thing the more impressed I am with Dan's machining. You talk about tight - its tight. No play at all in any of his drilling. Really pro work by Dan (and all of you too).

I'll shoot some pix when ready to ship off.

Thanks for all the patience and for not lynching me.

Hi Roger
I got your emails .
thanks for the comments too :o
I sure would like to see it again..in hand I'm sure everyone would like to see their handy work and play with it a little too.. I'm sure it's looking great..

I know your plight in work,, because of events this summer and the move this last two weeks..and limits I'm facing for the next 10 months.:eek:but we're moved in..

I'm so far behind it's not funny..the guys with stuff on order have been great though.. I've have some puter problems and just got some old stuff uncovered and I could be much more than 3 years behind..

just a hint to the wise, print your stuff up guys don't rely on the computer not to crash on you.. one word, NORTONSUCKS

Okay Dan and sorry to hear about the move. I went through one of those too last year and it set me back a whole lot more than I had expected. I am still not completely set back up in my shop.

Well, I am just trying to remember where this baby goes to next. Without checking back through the thread I think it might be Steve Sando for hand finishing the blade (although Dave Larson has already done that). Another thing of question is the sheath maker. I remember emailing him at least a couple times many months ago and received no responce. Perhaps I should try to check back again and see if he responds.

Anyhow I will be sending the whole package to you Dan and you can sign off on it if satisfactory. Then if you would please ship it on to the next team member in order of work to be done.

As mentioned, I will post a couple pix this coming week.

 These 45 pages are one hell of a read...You guys...and that knife...are totally unbelievable...

Okay, except for getting some Danish Oil into this ivory the handle is completely finished. Looking good and all shined up just like for a Sunday social. It is a an overcast day here so I am hoping to get some nice pix after the decent day light arrives. I'll post them but the pix will be of the template blade, not the actual damascus blade. I will post pix of the assembled knife on the actual blade after the oil has cured and I can assemble it (several days). So I won't be able to ship this to Dan until next week. I will apply the oil to the ivory (from the back side of ivory) after taking pix this morning - template blade knife. Pix will be posted sometime today.

Well, now I am stuck. I just finished preparing the pictures and now I can't post them because I sold my website a few months ago and haven't bothered to write another one yet. I don't do rifle stock work anymore so I sold the site. The fellow that owns it keeps my knife work on it but I won't ask him to do random hosting for me. Since I don't have any place to host these pictures yet can someone put them up here if I email them to you? Sorry bout that. If it ain't one thing its another.
