Who would buy the 0454 with a non-composite blade?

I'm not sure where you draw the line with comments on the internet anymore. Some people on forums choose to disregard social norms and their behavior becomes more abrasive and blunt than they might normally be. "Awful" and "Eyesore" are impolite, but I think it was the term "complete failure" that made me bristle recently. This was in reference to a machined logo on a handle, and I thought it was inappropriately harsh.

Nonetheless, let's all take it easy here and accept that some people are going to disagree with some of the design features of every knife ZT makes. We try our best to please as many people as possible, but pleasing everyone is just not possible. Let's just try to keep the comments respectful. I'd rather hear "I don't like that" in lieu of "That's awful". Designs are like babies, so being overly critical of their looks can result in hurt feelings quickly.... :( Although newborns are weird looking for a little bit... :p

Now excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep...

*pat on the shoulder* we like you Jim...

Im not sour about anything like I said I think knife is beautiful and would love to have one but don't see that happening due to price. I know I cant afford everything I want in life and accepted that along time ago lol just saying id be interested in a cheaper version down the road so maybe I can get model close to the 0454 in design. Thought my post was on topic with the thread 100%

I really don't think there's anything wrong with people saying it's ugly or whatever. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People who don't like it...won't buy it. But it was 2013 Blade's KOTY...so obviously enough people like the design. There probably won't be enough to go around either....much like 777 & 888. Hopefully I'll be able to score one when the time comes.

Dude when my kid was first born I was scared. really scared. Then something happened she got a lot cuter. She looked almost alien like to me when I first saw her. You have to admit though Jim some peoples kids are just plain ugly. And the only reason they go around telling everyone how cute they are is because they are trying to convince themselves, not you.

I resemble that.

We seem to have some CPM-D2 haters around here. It might not be a new fangled steel but it is one hell of a steel. Even though they can't run the hardness as high with the CB technology, it's still pretty awesome. I will be trying to get 2 if I can.

My first kid will be born in November, and I'm really scared that I will say something stupid in front of my post-labor wife... And it's a girl too - I'm already stocking up on shotgun shells... :)

My point with the baby reference was more to suggest that we all get a little hung up on the things that we find cool, and harsh comments tend to rile people up. I am all for hearing honest opinions, but I truly believe that you can be totally honest about why you don't like something without being an A-hole. You can't force someone to respect you (or even like you), but you can ask that they TREAT you with respect. That's what we ask for around here.

You are right - there are some designs out there that are just not very good. It happens. I'm probably responsible for a few. If we ever decide to paint a knife with leopard print, I think the term "complete failure" might be warranted. However, until then we might be able to use more tactful responses.

Congrats on the little one! Just focus on the miracle you will hold in front of you and say little and smile a lot! It has worked 3 times for me! And yes many, many shotgun shells!

Well Jim congrats on the inbound little one. I have to agree though that if your not going to give praise for a design and feel you must express the opposite a certain amount of tact should be utilized in delivering that message. Its actually a pretty defined line separating constructive criticism and negativity so I dont really understand why some have a hard time with it. I find that its usually people who have a hard time telling the difference between what is fact and what is opinion that struggle with diarrhea of the mouth. And at those times when seeing those comments you have to realize that 1. they are either thick headed and wont make the connection of why your not flattered by the comment or the reaction is exactly what they are trying to attain. Either way, I think any time your job is to create something with mass appeal thick skin is not only beneficial but almost necessary to keep ones sanity. There is simply no way to please everyone and people are more likely to be vocal when they dont like something than when they do.
