Who's excited for #47 Viper?!

Nope. Just part of the SFO world. You just have to factor it in at the beginning. With a great company like GEC, there are never very many.

Besides, it is the only way Wendy will ever let me get my paws on an ivory knife.

So when you said you cry a little with each second what you really meant was you cry in front of your wife but as soon as she leaves the room you get all giddy and admire your new edc knife. :D

That sounds a little harsh okbohn, having to pay for knives that aren't as good (looking) as they should. Especially with expensive handle materials.

When it is handle problems in the slabs you sent them, it is hard to convince them to eat the knife for a component they had nothing to do with choosing. They have the same caveat for bone / horn / stag. Now, if they booger up their components, you do not have to take them. But who wants another dealer selling the EDC models of your SFO??

Not this go around.... :(

The ones I carry--

One has a crack through a pin.
One has a place in the front where the ivory evidently chipped out a little on the scale side.
Two have places where they buffed a little too long on the bolster and it took part of the arrowhead off (barlow)

Those are what I carry. I haven't seen "S" models. I can only speak of the ones that I get that have a "2" on them. None of them have been too bad. When you do a SFO you buy the whole batch including the seconds. When you supply the ivory, you cry a little with each second. :)
Oh you mean like this?

Well thanks for the replies everyone.I'm glad I asked.

Gary, beautiful knife. Really liking the amber hues on that stag. Stag is a solid choice on this pattern. Enjoy!

Nice one Gary. I've recently begun to appreciate stag more and more. I really like the darker look like yours.

Is this viper about the same size as the #73 scout???

Happy to help as mine arrived today:)

Pretty much the same length and bolster depth. The frame on the #47 stays a touch more slender and, of course, sways back!

Most pleased, a winner methinks!

im really excited for these. i thought i had missed the green micarta versions and was pretty bummed but was able to find a dealer with one left at a very good price. also ordered one with the smooth white bone. these look great

My green micarta arrived today! Very nice knife, I can't wait to compare with the Smooth bone, when it gets here. I'll sharpen her up tonight, and get it into regular rotation.

Also, learned with my shipment that KSF is now sending a free slip case when you order more than one GEC at a time (also got a #9 - it's so teenie!). So that was a nice bonus.

Wife got me this one for valentines, I thought the red was very fitting! I knew the dimensions, but it still ended being bigger than expected. Looks like it will be an excellent carry knife.

Just got mine in green micarta from ksf today. I was afraid it would be on the large side, but it's fits the hand well. The blade couldn't be more centered when closed and the pull is firm but not crazy. Snaps in half stop without bounce and opens crisp. Couldn't be happier. Thanks Derrick.

Yah thanks guys, now the wait, I hate waiting lol but, that's part of it, hopefully later on tonight it'll give me an estimated arrival date !! I'll be sure to get some photos up on arrival or soon after!

Ah, I didn't realize that either, guess I'm outta luck, but then, I was outta cash so there I am ;)

Now that I have it in hand, I can say that this is exactly the knife I have been hoping for some time that GEC would produce - a quality swayback that fills the hand. I don't find it too big by any means (though 3-1/2 is usually as small as I like to go in a pocket knife), and as others have already stated, it's quite slender for its size. Alignment is dead-on, walk and talk is tight and solid. And I really like the half-stop on this one. This is also one of those examples where I think I actually prefer the really clean simplicity of the Tidioute version, but that's obviously just personal preference, and why they come in so many flavors. :D

This is a great looking knife, and I think GEC really has (another) winner here.

I actually thought it might be a bit too big, but slide it in your pocket and, like you said--perfect. :)
