Who's gotten their 5.1 Starter?

My new 5.1 arrived this afternoon...next to my old one just for comparison.




I LOVE the new handles and the finish. This is a step up from the old GSO. Guy needs to charge more for these.
 
Yes he does! Worth the wait arent they??!!. I got all excited to see an email from Survive in my inbox only to realize it was the first friday update! Damn, I thought it was shipping confirmation until I opened it.
 
Yep and as goofy as it sounds I am saddened that my old 5.1 is no longer my favorite knife....this new 5.1 is really nice. It's a clear step up from the older ones fit and finish-wise and the handles and contouring of the scales really takes it to the next level when you're working with it. AND the old handles were very comfortable.

OBX, what great news! Very nice comparison pics.

I totally understand what you mean about your preference shifting from old to new models. I anticipate the same happening with my GSO 5 when I get my 4.7. The 5 is my absolute grail, but it is weird to think I can count down the days that it will stay that way!
 
I think you guys will find that you still love those blades. Silver if you decide to sell the 5 once the 4.7 takes over, I will buy it.

Beautiful! That's the exact same as I ordered, except no divot or notch for me. What sheath did you go with?

It sure looks like it. I am kind of disappointed with how it looks. I ordered mine in camo canvas because I like the lighter tone with darker tone, but this batch of camo is like mid tone and dark tones. Wrote to S!K to see if I can swap all my orders to green canvas instead but have not heard back. Guess I will just have to suck it up and learn to like it. It is not too bad actually but not what I had envisioned from all the photos from previous productions.

Black but I am going to order another sheath color probably spring flat earth. I really like the new camo scales. I got my 4.7 in camo too but my 4.1 in black, I might be regretting that decision.....but I am sure I'll buy a second set of scales for it, in camo.

Thanks! Like Riz says I am not going to fall out of love with my first GSOs but they are going to get a lot less time in the saddle if the new 4.7, 4.1 and 7/7 are anything like this new 5.1. I've got several 5.1s and 4.1s that will be relegated to my various bags as backups. The new ones will go on my hip when I go out. I'll ping Riz if I put any of the up for sale!! I think I am going to sell most of my Busses too...this might be a knee jerk reaction but these new knives are that much better. I'll do a quick write up on how the new 5.1 fairs against my RMD after I spend some time with it.
