Who's gotten their 5.1 Starter?

It sure looks like it. I am kind of disappointed with how it looks. I ordered mine in camo canvas because I like the lighter tone with darker tone, but this batch of camo is like mid tone and dark tones. Wrote to S!K to see if I can swap all my orders to green canvas instead but have not heard back. Guess I will just have to suck it up and learn to like it. It is not too bad actually but not what I had envisioned from all the photos from previous productions.

Haha! Anything damp will darken it up but at least water and sweat dry quickly.

Most micarta is going to permanently darken anyway, at least for me it does. My hands tend to sweat a lot and even after having a knife for only a few months I can tell where my fingers and palm contact the scales long after they're dry. I haven't figured out if some variants are more prone to it that others - like if canvas is less susceptible than linen, for example - but it does seem that micarta is worse than G10 in that regard.

Black but I am going to order another sheath color probably spring flat earth. I really like the new camo scales. I got my 4.7 in camo too but my 4.1 in black, I might be regretting that decision.....but I am sure I'll buy a second set of scales for it, in camo.

I really like the FDE sheaths, that's what I went with for the 5.1 and 2.7. My 4.7 is going to be OD sheath with camo canvas scales.

Did you see a linen camo somewhere? I see the canvas camo and g10 camo but no linen.

I do too, I might actually change my orders. Linen camo would look spectacular, but sadly no I am pretty sure they don't come in that color.

Oh okay, I thought maybe I was missing it. I'd like to try some of the camo g10 too. I had a 5.1 in the black g10, and I think with the new contour it might be really nice. I usually go with micarta, but if everything is designed right (and the 5.1 sure as heck looks like it is) I can get on board with g10.

g10 is really the way too go imo. grip was not an issue even when oiled up.

but i am used to working with oily greasy tools.

The new handles are butter, I think the G10 will offer a good grip but the canvas and linen will be tackier, especially when wet, with the canvas more so than the linen.

Two nights ago I ordered the 3.5 with G-10 and CPM-20CV. Personally I dig canvas micarta handles but I felt that at times I wanted a knife that is totally waterproof and water resistant, not that canvas micarta is not, but the G-10 should do better when dealing with oil and liquids, especially dirty water and whatnot.

Nice!!! So is this your 3rd model on order?

I had the exact same thought process with my 2.7. 20cv steel, g10 handle. It will be the most weather proof blade I have.

Nope. That will be my fourth. Coming to me in order, 5.1, 4.1, 7/7, and lastly 3.5. Heeheehee...

I ended up with one :-)

Yep I agree! A 2.7 with blaze orange scales is on my wish list. Something that'll handle getting wet and be really visible at the same time.
