Who's gotten their 5.1 Starter?

you guys were smarter abut ordering the more expensive scales in the pre-order...i might add blaze orange g-10 later, but i always default to green canvas, it just has always been my favorite
 
Certainly nothing wrong with the green either. If the ergos fit me just right, I might try a set of those red and black g10 too.
 
I like the green for the canvas and the Blaze is obviously my favorite. Every S!K I have has come with Blaze scales. I also have a set of green canvas for my 5.1, 3.5 and N2
 
Thanks, Knocks! I was thinking about Natural Brown Canvas, it's just that some of the pictures on the older models sport a brighter orange look than a rustic brown that Chiral's seems to have. He told me that he's had all kind of brown shades pass through his fingers, so I was think of just writing to them and asking for a darker shade. The darker shade contrasts very well with the new finish in my opinion and I understand brighter colors also have a utility purpose (they stand out against the foliage for instance.) I'm a canvas guy, i'm just not a huge fan of g10, unfortunately.

Here's a picture needle, the blade was up for grabs in the sale forums but it's already been nabbed.

(p.s yeah, I'm a lurker. I'm pretty new to bladeforums, and i'm newish to the blade world in general. It's been such a weird journey looking for a good solid fixed blade. I've pretty much been hooked on the 3.5 as my dream edc fixed now, but I can't seem to shell out for an older model. I'll just have to experience that crazy s!k wait that y'all seem to know so well....:))

Man the new version is sooooo clean! I believe that's the first new version to hit the exchange here, and definitely the first 5.1 in a long time.
 
Oh, and I should tell you.....you might want to edit out that green emoji. That one is restricted to the Whine & Cheese forum only, the mods will ding you for use outside of there.
 
The 5.1 in CPM 20cv...I can't believe I missed this offering....... I checked the exchanged right before I passed out at about 8:45 last night. 20 more minutes and I would have been in! It was gone in 5 mins from the looks of the posts. frustrating but I guess I can't complain since I'm luck enough to own the 4.1 already.

We have no control over the natural brown canvas handles. Every batch comes out different when they are manufacturing the sheets. We place an order and then hope for the best.
 
That's a bummer, Ellie! But I suppose that's just how it is. Perhaps it not too much to hope that a guy can request some of the darker handles from the darker batches? when he orders a 5.1? (3 more days if you guys keep to your production schedule!)

Besides, I'm sure that people love all the shades the brown comes in. I'm just some weirdo with an eye toward darker shaded handles....(what is the world coming to!?)

I've read about folks using RIT dye on their micarta scales. I have NOT tried that myself, but would in the right circumstance. Like black g10 vs black micarta. The g10 looks so good that dark black, but I love the grip of micarta scales. One of these days I'll have to give that a go. That might work for a deep brown, especially since the gso scales are removable.

Standard, that looks great. I actually have this thing about gray, so the dark stripes on black canvas really appeal to me. If the new premium secret handle colors involve gray, I will be spending money. One of my biggest regrets in life is missing out when they sold gray sheaths!

Oh that would be awesome! Gray and the new finish would look ridiculously good! Sign me up for one of those also!
 
Howdy 5.1ers,
Quick question and check in. Anyone else still waiting on their Starter preorder 5.1 or is it just me? Thought I'd check here first before worrying and unnecessarily bugging Survive Knives themselves. This was supposed to be the week the final orders shipped out.
