Why are we drawn to fat blades?

Excuse me if I write another thing. I collected a lot of knives, Barkriver, custom knives, Boker knives, Puma knives,Busse knives, Carothers knives, dan keffeler knives. And I take a word from Mike Stuart Barkriver "A Knife must first cut and then chopp". First I did not understand, but I understand it now. With a thin edge it is better to chopp and to slice.
I know the bad history about Mike Stewart.
One time I bought a new Barkriver knife and it was to thin and it bend as I chopped with it.
I must say carothers knives and keffeler knives comes from competition sport and they are most of the time thinner than busse knives. I tested all my big knives chopping (some knives to 10 inch diameter wood) and I noticed (sorry)
that the busse knives are indestructible, but I must beat really harder than with a Barkriver (for example Janap Bolo), Carothers (Medium Chopper, Heavy Duty Medium Chopper,Behemoth chopper Behemother), Dan Keffeler knives (Sasquatch, Silverback 1.5, K18) and
this is really true. My bigger Busse knives are Through raider, forsaken battle mistress, Mega Ratweiler, hog team gemini,
NMSFNO, Dirty Trick). Now I ordered two new Busse AFBM and they are 0.025 behind the edge.
This is super and I ordered it only because the knives are really thin behind the edge.
Now I can compare these two AFBM with carothers, Barkriver and Dan Keffeler.
For example I bought a infi Busse BB13 and the owner before me thinned it a lot and this
knife is such a good chopper because it is thin behind the edge. It is a big joy to work with this knife
Everything is fine with Busse Design, steel, warranty, the staff, company and I like them all but a little bit thinner and everything is alright.
In common, I do not want to make big knives thinner for myself. I want it thin from the company.

Ah the modded bb13, glad you like it! post some pics of use if you can. That things a hand held wood chipper. ;)

Hello Jack of all blades, yes I was so surprised, that your modified BB13 is such a good chopper. I told this also to spindrift416. I have a survival machete 61 Rockwell steel niolox from a german knifemaker (Juergen Schanz), it is 0.02 thin behind the edge. This machete goes
into wood like butter. Your modified BB13 is similar from the effect. You need less power and you have a lot of fun.
Greetings Tilo.

There's this li'l fat guy as well...
OG HOGs might recognize it underneath its beautiful scales & customization by Mr Reese Weiland at the request of its previous owner (ronybear), this li'l porker is approx .30" thick.
It's an original Busse INFI Mean Street *fatty* prototype πŸ™‚πŸ€™
Note the lack of the Talon Hole- both (only 2, & both have different grinds) of these prototypes don't have this trademark.

I got nothin on Jaxx, but this early A2 Mean Street has some junk in her trunk at 6mm. πŸ₯°

I don't like thick blades. I tend to go for the skinnier, having said that my Boss Street gets used a bunch. In my mind it's a fine knife that's too thick but when I get it in hand, it's one of my very favorites.

Geometry cuts. All my Bussekin chopper users get reprofiled to improve the performance, similar to your BB13. I have an old BRK Bolo in A2, and that thing has a thin SHARP convex edge. Of course, if the edge blows out Mike Stewart will blame me. Jerry would just laugh and replace the knife.

Busse warranty is SUPERLATIVE
