Why Busse?

I was wondering, besides the slightly thicker blade, better fit and finish, and name, what are the advantages of Busse over Swamp Rat and Scrapyard?

What justifies the higher price?

Mr Bond........Swamp Rat...Scrap Yard.....are wonderful blades...and they will give you excellent customer service.....but this is how I get it (since I work at Busse Combat)...............It had to start somewhere....that would be Jerry Busse....and he ROCKS....Jennifer his wife started Swamp Rat....."Nuff Said" SHE ROCKS and than Scrap Yard.....Jerry's Brother..............All I can say is this THEY ROCK:) :) :) :)

I love Amy O's dog avatar. That puppy has the coolest markings.

N/A on "addtional information" !!!! I want to know her birthday, her life, her hobby,......Clark bars, coors lite, cheese cake, and she favor skunk :grumpy: Those info are just not enough!!

I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT AMY-0:D

p.s. Amy, when you sent knife back to me, can you add a "Clark Bar"? I'll pay! I seriously try to find one here, but we really don't sell CLARK:( Just curious about the taste since you love it so much!

I have read, as was mentioned, that most of the performance differences come out in controlled testing. "You know, with Jerry and Skunk in lab coats, big red, rubber gloves, and lots of booze!" But for most of us, we probably won't push our knives to the point to be able to tell.

However, the corrosion difference is fairly evident but if you take care of your blades this really isn't an issue.

Finally, it really comes down to preference. Do you prefer Res-C or Micarta? Detail with higher cost or lower cost and less detail?

You will not go wrong any-which-way. In fact, most of us have some of each. Good luck bro. :)

Excuse me for being shallow.......leave alone the finish, steel material, Busse just LOOKS hell a lot better!

Eye candy just always cost more :D

p.s. Wu~ yeah, thanks Amy-0

Oh.... And if you are in to Scotch... Duccis... and Gunther... then these are for you.

wuyeah: nothin' wrong with eye candy! ;)

CAUSE RATS SUCK!!!

Better add more to the above so I don't get lynched :D Overall materials, fit and finish, quality in steel, better personnel working there (I only speak to Busse, so this is just heresay), and because while swamp rat and scrap yard are good, they ain't Jerry Busse Good!!!

Ride motorcycles? Busse vs Scrap is like Harley vs Honda. Now a Honda is a damn fine motorcycle. Its reliable, it looks good (if you like that style), it will last for a long time, and is reasonably priced. However nothing scratches the itch for a Harley but a Harley (right Chief?). If it has to be explained, well you know. Nothing scratches the itch for a Busse but a Busse. There are valid reasons for the loyalty. The performance shown with the testing of the INFI is apparently unmatched. Good quality, great customer service, and IMHO: mostly they are just cool.
Beware of looking at the pictures posted here. Get out while you can....................................................once it starts...........................

" ...They PULL me back IN." ;) :D

LOL

Ummmmm... because they're Busse! :D :D

For all those reasons that the others have stated... and one that nobody has stated yet...

That feeling you get when you snag one, and then the feeling you get when it arrives at your door... and the the feeling you get when you USE IT!!!!
;)

I have learned over the years that Opinions Do Vary.

I purchase Busse Knives primarily because of the Steel combined with the way the knives feel in my hand.

I avoid the Swampers for the very same reason.

Each of the knives has its own place in the world.

The INFI knives tend to hold an edge longer when used to cut clean soft materials like rope, skin, leather, wood and such.

INFI also seems to not break when I throw the knives, hundreds of times, so far anyway.

I was sitting around on BF for a while, before I stumbled on Busse, after reading a Chris Reeve knife thread... I know how good Chris Reeve are, and will soon own a Sebbie, but someone in a thread mentioned that if you want more hardcore than Chris Reeve, buy a Busse, and mentioned that the FBM was currently up on the site...

After 4 weeks of scouring the interweb about Busse, camping archieve rants and reviews, wilderness and survival threads, and more importantly, the history of the currently available Battle Mistress knife, I was completely astounded... and immediately bought one... the amount of work that someone on a hunting thread put this baby through without even needing to sharpen it was immense..

This included:

Chopping down 6 x 8" birch trees
Cutting these into different size grades of firewood
Cutting oil drums
Punching holes in car door and bonnets
Using the knife as a pry bar to lift heavy rocks
Using the spine to smash up concrete blocks
Cutting coke cans horizontally in one fell swoop, which left the can standing!!! (SHBM ;-)
then...........without having sharpened it... still managed to cut hair off his arm...

Thats damn impressive...

The steel is rock hard... really heavy duty tool steel... I remember someone saying that Jerry pushed a BM through a 1/2" plate steel sheet, with the aid of a hydraulic machine or something.. without damaging the tip

These knives would be family heir looms 500 years down the line... even if they were users

God I love Busse
