Why Do People Say Lynn C. Thompson Is Controversial

Yeah, and I thought it was only a dream. Those rap groups sure do always flash alot of guns around. They are always shooting each other for one reason or another.

Let's be realistic here. Thats taking a gigantic leap in faith that you see the attack coming.

You are far more likely to get bashed over the head from behind than having a knife covertly at the ready awaiting imminent danger.

Even if attacked openly, the chances of the aggressor being poised to do you harm is FAR higher than your ability to deploy any knife to save yourself from an attack.

How would you justify your actions in court? "Well officer, I knew I was going to be attacked, so instead of taking the time to flee, I took out my knife, and hid it behind me until they made a move, then I "defended myself"

They call that Man 2.

Now, can I deploy a knife and make multiple cuts on a target in a flash? You bet I can.

Would I do it if I was in a deadly struggle with someone? You bet I would.

Do I ever foresee getting into a situation where I would need to be an expert at doing so? I sure dont.

Phil, you mentioned statistics. How many people defend themselves successfully against an attack with a knife? I don't know the answer, but I would say its probably 50 times less likely than self-defense using a firearm, and hundreds of times less likely than leaving yourself in a vulnerable position, or being able to escape without the confrontation escalating.

I can think of one single case that I have read about in the last 15 years of studying self-defense literature. Ayoob wrote of a case involving a man attending Harvard who was beaten by two unarmed men and killed one of his attacker while defending himself with a Spyderco Military. He was charged with Manslaughter.

I have nothing against training in martial blade craft. But to think that it will save you in a typical physical confrontation is poor judgment. An unarmed opponent who is better trained in UNARMED combat will likely disable the average "self-defense knife user" and use his weapon against him.

Don't rely on anything that you are not well trained in, and don't train on that which is unlikely to save you.

The Harvard guy was Alexander Pring-Wilson. He was convicted of manslaughter, but had his conviction overturned by the court in a new trial. He defended himself and unfortunately someone got killed. The guy who hit him was a convicted drug dealer, who had a lengthy record.

all I know is that when I go out and I am gonna be in some shady areas I always roll about 10 to 15 deep, And I am talking about some gritty grimy motherfuckers that dont give a shit. It works for me ymmv however.

"We don't talk to police, we don't make a peace bond
We don't trust in the judicial system, we shoot guns
We rely on the streets, we do battle in the hood
I was born in the G Code, embedded in my blood"

With all those guys you don't have a worry in the world. Not many people would mess with all those people. You're in Las Vegas now? I know you were talking about Vegas last week. How's the weather out there now? I wish I was there right now too.

Did Tupac really die in Las Vegas? Makes we wonder...hmmm

the weather so far this week has been chilly and gloomy.

Simple: To prevent the citizens who have not been made aware or polarized on the issue to continue ignoring it. Why add fuel to a fire if all they have is a spark?

The path of the sheep. This has been getting us all kinds of great results up till now hasnt it? Its time to stop ducking, if we take a few on the nose, wipe off the blood and stand and fight.

We do not have a mainstream voice. We only have a liberal media and a "rights abolishing" dominate party in our government to contest.

Waving a flag that draws attention when you have no major voice to back your position is like a single soldier calling for the enemy battalion to fall upon his position.

It may be brave, it may be noble, but it is unwise.

To glamorize knives as anything other than a tool only leads to attention that we cannot effectively oppose.

The point is that no matter how hard you try to hide to avoid that attention, you will fail. Better to stand up for your rights than behave as if you do have something to hide, since you won't effectively placate the hoplophobes in any event.

Yesterday it was chilly here. 14 degrees with a 30mph wind. The wind chill was around 2 degrees. Working outside sure isn't fun on a day like that. I'd take the "chilly' Vegas weather any day. 50-60 degrees is not to bad.

Standing up for your rights, and inviting unneeded attention, are at different section of the spectrum. For those who have condemned my position as "sheepish" they are wrong. I have as a conservative view on the issue.

I am not polarized and I see our hobby for what it is, a hobby and a passion. I dont consider the average blade owner a martial artist capable of de-animating 5 firearm toting thugs, but an average guy who uses a knife 99.99999999999% of the time as a tool.

Being radical in either direction only leads to a knock down drag out confrontation. If we turn a non-issue into anything that draws the attention of a liberal media or gov't, we will lose.

Keep doing your reviews Phil. I appreciate your work. I especially enjoy the reviews that include the daily utilitarian functionality of the blades.

it can happen anywhere, anytime. dont be foolish

Yeah, since there are so many gangbangin Crips where I hang out. Stay in the hood dude, you'll be safer there. I'll stay where I am at, which is a place that thugs and criminals get what they ask for.

The sights work better if you hold the gun upright. Just a little tip :D

Ya'll are missing the point...

Cold Steel actually makes nothing. Nothing.... case closed :)

There is no crime in Vegas. It's a gentle kindler town ;)
Now North Las Vegas , it gets a little ruff over there.
The PD there , and Boulder City don't put up with much , you look like you don't belong , you will be checked out.

Never get into a game of " Gat , paper , scissors ".. Gat wins.

FYI: I roll solo , less witness's.
