Why Do People Say Lynn C. Thompson Is Controversial

My knife is no more a weapon than a baseball bat, table leg, chainsaw, chair or tire iorn. Yea, it can be a weapon, but I carry it as a tool.

Phil, there's a group who thinks like you and there's a group who thinks like "them".

Then there's everybody else. The vast majority of people don't care either way. Don't think of a knife as a weapon either way, don't feel the need to ban them or learn to fight with them.

But I'll tell ya, for every ten of those people who see a "solid proof" video, one or two are impressed by the knives and the rest walk away looking at a knife as a killing machine or a dangerous weapon.

That kind of marketing just does nothing for our cause.

I have no problem with people looking at knives as a defensive tool, but the way Lynn does it is irresponsible. Slashing at suspended sides of meat and talking about the "devistating wound channels" does nothing to paint self defense in a positive light, it makes us look like savages.

There's a huge difference between what Cold Steel does for the self defense community and what websites like The Martialist do to further the cause.

Couple that with the hit or miss quality you get out of Cold Steel, their tendancy to "borrow" popular designs and their over the top claims about the performance of their knives and you have CS in a nutshell.

Lynn Thompson once sat down at the table and ate 4 FRIED CHICKENS AND A COKE.

Maybe he did, maybe he didnt. I have never understood why people feel the need to poke fun at his physical appearence...or why it is allowed here. You may not like their product or advertising or even the man himself...but why his size or possible eating habits? Pretty shallow.

Lynn Thompson has proven he will put his money where his mouth is. He has participated in full contact events and made a pretty decent showing of himself and his skill...have you?

Face to face you may very well discuss his products and what you like or dont like about them...you might tell him his advertising is not to his liking...but would you have the guts to insult his physical appearence or eating habits to his face? You probably could, I suspect he has too much class to let that get to him but I suspect if it came down to him challenging you in a full contact event you would probably walk the other way as fast as your legs would carry you.

Save your grade school insults for some other place.

Yea, I don't particularly like the way he runs his business, but he is a good business man.

He contributes to charity regularly and he could most likely kick my ass.

There, I said nice things.

laughing their heads off , wondering why they bothered.
;)

The DVD is the one CS product I have , and it's a great drink coaster ;)

FWIW:

I believe Mr. Wilson (mentioned earlier in this thread) pled guilty in January 2008 to avoid another trail. He had legal representation, and both of his parents practice law.

A witness in the trial indicated that Mr. Wilson was the person who instigated the fight. You can't use deadly force as a defense in something you started unless you clearly withdraw from the situation.

Thumbs, why do you call men that are older than yourself, "son"?
Not trying to be rude, just wondering?
This one old guy up town used to call everyone, son. People became so annoyed they started saying it back to him. His nickname till the day he died was "son Taylor".:D
