I'm carrying the Pivot Helix with S35VN blade today!

I have too many knives already. So I carry two to enjoy more than one at a time. Otherwise hardly any of them would get any real pocket time.
There's a lot of truth to this statement. If I only carried one different knife each day, I'd wouldn't see the same knife again from the beginning of winter until sometime during the autumn of the next year.

I don't intend to carry more than one but it happens since I stash them in various jacket pockets, in the SUV, daypack, picnic kit, etc.

I always have at least two on my person. Small one on the keychain gets used for any cutting of tape to keep main blade from getting gummed up and little else.

If I'm carrying three which happens regularly, one of them is usually irreplaceable for one reason or another. (like my Grandfather's stockman) So I have a carry a regular knife as well to have options, Grandpa's knife is for light duty chores only.

Grizz

The better to stab you with my dear.

Lol.

I keep an SAK super tinker in my little medicine bag and whatever is clipped to my pocket.

I have knives for work. More than one because sometime they get dull and I didn't always have time to attend to that right away, and I like variety so I have different models.

Then I have knive for wood prep duty, food prep duty, cigar cutting duty, scuba diving duty, fishing duty etc. Could I cut my cigars with my BK-9? Probably, but I have a feeling it would get me strange looks at the cigar lounge 😂

And for each of specific duty, I usually have at least 2 options. Hey, variety is the spice of life.

And those are the ones I carry. I also have a collection, but those are separate, and don't get carried.

I carry the SAK Compact for the tool selection, a nice folder for most cutting - especially cutting a sandwich or other food, and the knipex because sometimes you need a pair of pliers. For me this set up is preferred over a multitool for EDC. I'm retired now. When I worked I carried a pocket folder, a 110, full size pair of pliers and a multitool.View attachment 2236183

Agreed that a SAK and those knipex are an amazing EDC and better than a Leatherman.

That's the combo I take when I travel to someplace that doesn't allow locking or fixed blades.

If I'm alive and not working out or having sex, I'll have a Benchmade H2O neck knife on as a backup and also has a compass , whistle and flashlight on it.

If I'm wearing clothes or a swimsuit, I'll have a spyderco salt 2 folder IWB (it will always make 1 thing, 2 things and require no maintenance)

If I'm wearing something with pockets, I'll also have my pocket sheath wallet with a BK-14 for heavy duty or emergency outdoor survival use and also a SAK Alox Pioneer-X (blade for apples / food and amazing scissors)

If I'm out of my house, my keychain has a Leatherman Squirt (tiny but useful plyers and a great file) and a SAK Alox Minichamp (super tiny and great Philips screwdriver, etc)

I may also occasionally have a Benchmade Azeria on my waist or belt, because a thin, pointy, slicey Wharncliffe is DAMN handy!

6 "knives" is super common for me, although I don't consider the keychain multitools to be knives, despite there being several blades in them.

The BK-14 fixed and the serrated salt folder will get through just about anything...

The SAK is a multitool + food use

The neck knife I hope to never have to rely on it for anything important , but it's there in case I do.

You need one of these.

I suspect it’s mostly because the people on this forum are blade enthusiasts but the question makes you think. I carry different knives depending on where I am going and known activities as well as what may pop up. I almost always have a locking folder and sometimes add a slip joint, a small fixed blade in my pocket or a 3-4” fixed on my belt. The locking folder is very pricey and although it can handle most any task within reason, I don’t use it hard. I reserve those tasks for the alternate blade or an appropriate tool if a knife is not it.
