"Why do you have so many knives!" how many have heard this?

There are far worse hobbies to have. You should just tell the wife you chose to collect knives instead of wives.

I'm happily divorced. My ex got rid of a bunch of my collections when we moved without telling me. 1:18 scale model cars, Lego Star Wars, childhood toys like G.I. Joe. Cologne, knives, guns, and nerf was what wasn't given away/donated. Oh and obviously not home theater stuff. She liked shooting, liked that I carried a knife.

Yes, but it takes on a different perspective when it comes from myself…hearing voices….maybe I need an aluminum hat!!. We all talk about thinning the herd, hard to do when they all are your “favorite.” :)

There was another thread about re-discovering knives in your collection, sort of reintroducing them to yourself. Makes you examine why you like certain things about them and how your collection as changed from when you started. Maybe rediscovering your collection can help satiate the desire to get a another knife, and by taking care of them with a little TLC bring some more enjoyment.

My wife is great. She gives me the look of disgust and comments, “another knife!?” But she is the first to point out, “they have some cool knives for sale over here…..” when we are shopping.
She has NEVER bought me a knife though. 21 years of marriage and not a single one!

So many cool designs and blade shapes! Find it impossible to live with just one. Gotta have many to admire and show off!

Monofletch my wife's away and asked me to send her a picture of my latest purchase - a My Parang duku chandong 12" which is an amazing "knife" - her response "noiiice"!! I'm a lucky guy, she likes what I like including my ex military "Snatch" 110 Landrover defender!

I was married one year, my ex got me a Southern Grind Spider Monkey as a wedding gift. Of course then she paid for $0 of any bills throughout the marriage...

Can I use your knife, yeah. Only person I trust my mother (though a few occurrences I was not happy about) and a friend. That's about it.

However, my mother once borrowed a $300 knife at the cemetery so I'm not letting a knife I loan to her out of my sight!

Haven't read the whole thread, but the answer is simple..."To cut things"

It's better to wait until they are struggling like idiots to rip/tear something and ask them why don't they carry a knife like a reasonable human being.

Similarly, the answer to why do you always carry a flashlight is "because sometimes it's dark"

None of them even realize what dips4!ts they look like pointing their phone around like a lantern in Scooby-Doo

A couple times by my ex-GF but that's not the reason she's my ex.

There were other issues, such as (among other things) her "losing" the $3k diamond ring that I gave her.

I don't have much in the way of fancy knives, though I've been gifted a few nice ones. But I do have quite an accumulation of serviceable knives acquired over the past 50+ years. Possibly a couple hundred. Just the way things go.

Some people do wonder about my 60 or so hammers. I just point out that a real hammer guy like Scotty Fulton in Kentucky has over 12,000 hammers. The good thing about hammers is you don't have to sharpen them.

I'm the same with knives, and at the last count getting towards 200 hammers.........
I do use lots of my knives & hammers though, the old ones are ornaments!
Poor image 🙄 sorry....

Because it is the best addiction I have ever known. This is right at my happy place - I'm not up for collecting cars or watches, not built for it.

They should go hire MacGuyver lookalikes, out on the street handing SAKs out to kids on dope, saying "Vanax over Xanax, S90V over S903.... K390 over K9 30s" 😂

I'd pay them extra to give cheesy, 80s-style speeches like he did through all the last season.
