Not my first choice, I'd rather use my large leatherman for everything but I like how small the dime is and is more of a backups back up..
Same here. Kinda cool though.

Just an FYI, buddy of mine at the office bought a Gerber Crucial multitool, and within the first two days there was a pin (think it was a stop pin) that just dropped out. No idea what caused it, but it was not as sturdy as I would have liked, and having pieces fall off for no real reason was kinda disheartening as I had actually considered picking one of those up.

I think I gifted a Gerber Crucial in a contest here. Never used it, just got a hell of a deal on it. Also got my Skeletool CX in. Neither will see much use.

What you can't see is a slight but quite noticeable bend from the butt to the tip. The owner is not old enough to have been in Viet Nam - so I'll assume maybe it's a hand-me-down.

So this is what I've come up with. Now I just gotta figure out how - using only existing steel.

oh hey, if you hit the "bay of eee" and search on "blackjack khukri", you'll see something VERY like your drawing.

Oh, my.....please no more hints do do this sort of thing. Looking at that Reinhardt Blackjack gives me impure thoughts.....like, "where can I...procure 3 hundred dollars? "

Alright reprobates, I need an honest opinion on the 5.11 Rush 24. I need something bigger than my Moab 10 to haul my everyday gear and want a bit more stability. First up, does it have the hidden compartment behind the rear compartment? Next, how comfortable are the shoulder straps?

Just push a shopping cart around if you need to haul that much junk, you whino. :D Or get a trailer behind the lawn tractor.

You need a MAP3500.

Its always nice when you enjoy the same things!! Makes quality family time easy and fun for everyone.

Green or Black?? Green is my favorite color, followed closely by black.... But in this case black may be a better fit.

What do you guys think looks better?

Im thinking i can take the same type of vinyl they use to wrap cars and guns in camo and stuff and use a little to personalize my lighter without doing anything to permanently change it. I found small rolls of the stuff in Kryptek patterns, 2" X 60" Rolls for 7 bucks. Ill have plenty left to play with.

Personally, I think you oughta go with hunter orange or lemon yellow so you can find it when it falls out of your pocket or you set it down "for a minute" out in the woods and can't find it.

new toys showed up in the mail today.

after it's dry to touch, bake the krylon at 300F for about 45 minutes and it will cure up hard -- much better wear resistance.
(works even better if you strip and ferric chloride etch or parkerize the blade then paint)

glitter, OTOH, I'll leave to Terrio. ;)

OK so this got me to thinkin'.... I know there's clear powdercoat that gets pretty dang hard and durable... so could a guy spray-paint a blade with super-gaudy 70's style metal flake sparkly paint and then clear-powder over it? Or would baking the PC just melt the glitter (I think they mostly use Mylar or poly these days, not actual aluminum chips)?

I'm thinking a hot-pink sparkle Growl or Fugitive with flourescent pink scales and moonglow liners... that'd be HOT.

150 lb anvil, $200? good deal?

Hardened face? (drop a bearing on it from 12 or 18" up, see if it bounces or just thuds)? All beat to crap or in pretty good shape overall? No cracks? Hell yeah that's a good deal. If it's just a big lump of soft cast iron, or all beat to heck... I wouldn't bother.
