Why I rejected a envelope.. How not to ship a Busse TGLB...

The guy who started the other thread left a lot out of the picture. He shipped a large knife in an envelope designed to hold documents? Fail. What was he thinking? Clearly, he wasn't. Yea, no wonder he closed the other thread. He knew he failed and didn't want to deal with the predictable fallout.

... how the heck did a TLGB fit?

Oh boy...

That is the knife style in question? No wonder USPS took it out of the package. They probably took it out because their machines couldn't handle the bulk, so they manually examined it, and upon realization it was a knife their policy is to remove it due to handling safety concerns. That's hardly a "scam". That's a legitimate safety concern.

This guy not only failed to pack this knife remotely well, he put mail handlers at risk.

This is interesting because of all the knives I've shipped yours mysteriously dissappeared.

Hardly mysterious...

Also, in the other thread you stated "I'm new on here and new to shipping stuff". When formulating a narrative consistency always helps.

Question: What method of packaging would give you the best chance of loosing a large knife in the mail?

Answer: An envelope.

The really sad thing is boxes are free

But in this case that envelope cost $500

Glad that this is resolved for the buyer. I worked for UPS when I was 18 and 19, first as a jumper on the truck at the holidays, then in the depot the following Christmas. I thought packages were treated poorly on the truck. Was I mistaken. I didn't see anything until I worked in a depot. Unloading trucks, that was torture for these packages. If it said fragile, the shipper should have used enough packing peanuts/bubble tape, that was my managers motto. Packages fell outside the trailers, in the rain and snow. Don't worry about that, back to work. They should've had their package insured! I will still use UPS, I primarily use USPS, and I'm blessed to have a good staff at my PO.

I've also gotten knives that people send out of their sheaths, for example Bark Rivers in the box outside of the sheath, and the point is protruding out of the package. These ladies at the PO are sweethearts, I try to get some donuts or pastries for them every Christmas as a little thank you. Last thing I want is them hurt.

I try to send everything I sell or trade in a flat rate priority mail box with insurance and delivery confirmation, and expect the same from anyone I buy from or trade with. I usually only use a padded envelope for giveaways/contests or if I'm sending something to someone as a gift. Glad this one has been resolved.

Still yappin. Grow up ladies. Issue was resolved. People on forums are worse than high school chick's

Regular (8.5x11 paper) or Legal (8.5x14 paper), doesn't matter because these envelopes are meant for DOCUMENTS and nothing else.

No one should be shipping any knives in these or in a tyvek mailer UNLESS they are packed inside a Box.

Doesn't matter if it's a cheap folder or a Busse, use a box.

The envelope was bigger than that. Knife had cardboard and wrapped in plastic

Are your feelings hurt? Because you sure act like it. You dicked up, suck it up and move on, cupcake.

By the way? That was a hilariously crap "wrapping" job you did. That's why you're out $500 and a $500 knife. Ouch, that burn, though.

Dude, those feelings are scorched! Someone sure does need a hug, but it's not me!

I personally just love how you tried to burn the buyer with a feedback thread, and he came in set the story straight by slapping you in the face with his pics like "I'm sorry, what? Let me give you guys the REAL story." You lost a lot of possible future business by trying to act like a big tough guy (oh, the irony). Good for you.

P.S. Learn how to pack knives, guy. LOL

Um pretty sure I manned up to my mistake there tough girl.

You "manned up" after you got your card pulled in front of everybody.
What are you hoping to accomplish here?
You're taking yourself from "Guy a lot of people won't deal with" status to "Guy everyone will avoid like the plague" status.
Give it a rest already.

No dummy. I posted a thread because my concern was genuine. If I was trying to scam someone why the hell would I put myself out there? Tell ur mom I said hi

P.s. do what ur screen name says. No one likes a loud mouth. Ur the guy that usually gets knocked out at the parking lot of a bar. Oh and ur mom doesn't like u. Since we r throwing low blows and all

Speaking of low blows, I was hoping you could help me. I just sold three Sebenzas to the same guy. This should be enough packaging, right?

I figured, one small strip of scotch tape over the flap and I'm good, right? :D

It can cost a bit but I'm partial to PVC pipe with the proper 'caps' secured by copious amounts of tape and plenty of packing inside for large fixed blades....almost bomb-proof, as far as the USPS goes.

Sorry about the lost knife....the rest of you play nice now....enough cheap shots already?

I have to agree with USMC-

The internet age, has created a new breed of "tough guy" tough keyboard typing internet pussies, that would never be man enough to say these same things to USMC face!

I wish we had a place to go to put the boxing gloves on, so I could watch USMC do some talking with something other than a keyboard!

Attached is a picture of this new breed era of tough guys our pathetic country is producing:

It never fails to amuse me when people claim other people are being keyboard commandos, directly followed by insinuations that if we were in person, they would fight me. That is literally the essence of trying to be a keyboard commando. And who are you? How do you know USMC would beat ANY of us up? Because he's in the Marines? So, he's unbeatable? I could be anyone for all you know. I could be a 6'5 MMA champion. Or a seven foot tall robot with flame-throwers for arms. But get some boxing gloves and USMC is suddenly the man? Is he a Golden Gloves champ? I could be. You don't know. That's why you sound so hilarious and infantile. Actually, you sound like his little brother. "Well, my brother is a SUPER BADASS WHO WOULD BEAT YOU."

Pretty silly claim to make when you have no idea who you're talking to, or even any real idea who USMC is.

I just find it amusing that you'd say other people are being tough guys, and then you try to sound like a tough guy. Incidentally, that's the same thing USMC was doing. "I'll just call people ladies, and then get heated when they remind me that the entire thread exists because I'm incapable of packing a $500 knife correctly."
