Why is there sometimes snobbery against Cold Steel knives? They are great!

Cold Steel has the worst names for their products., i love the mini AK-47 but come on, it sounds rediculous for anyone over the age of 15, i smile and make excuses when i have to say what it is when someone asks.

Except that you're wrong.
I've bought knives which cost up to $600, have CRK, some customs and you know what?
I'm going to buy another Cold Steel Voyager, old style, and probably get my dad one the new XL Voyagers while I'm at it.

That depends on where you are, some may carry a fixed blade.

I think your missing the point...
Almost everything being made in China and Taiwan is the PROBLEM and we have one product (knives) that are made in the USA.
Keep buying those Chinese and Taiwanese blades and pretty soon all of us here will be saying "I used to remember when we made knives here in the USA".

Are they seriously that bad!? come on. Youre getting decent materials and a strong knife for a reasonable price!
You mention that the coated blades and G10 handles suck, then go buy an Emerson. Really? give me a break!
We all know that the ads for CS are lacking, but we all also know that were gonna buy more CS in the future. :)
Were talking and treating this company as though it was of FROST quality.......

There are different Grades of G10 for the records. The price wise, it is overpriced. Aus8 knife when you could get a better construction with a better steel. Frost Cutlery at least gives you what you pay for. You pay 3 bucks you get a 3 buck knife. You pay 250 for a medium espada you expect a 250$ knife not the same quality as a SOG Twitch (cheap but good for the price) Honestly you could get a ZT or a Sprint PM2 or even a user CRK.

Maybe youre right, but ignoring everything (price, ads, material) do YOU like CS products?

I am a big fan of USA made knives, especially Buck knives......and I am fully aware of China made products contributing to our falling economy.

I always carry a Buck 110 and USMC Ka Bar in my truck and happy about supporting USA Knives, but if I need that light weight folder with the most solid lockup I go to my folders with tri ad lock and they have held a pretty good edge. Even though I have some China and Taiwan knives I still support USA knives.

Not meant to be mean. It is expressing the feeling I had when I saw a Toilet brush-backscratcher-flashlight for 19 bucks at a big lots........ Yes it exist apparently..... 2 different sized with one side having a light in the brush......

Ignoring the price and advertising, I see knives that are very similar to knives like the Enlan EL-01 in terms of quality and materials. Then, taking pricing and ads into consideration, I see that the flagship Cold Steels cost three times as much and have obnoxious sales techniques. That's why I don't buy them.

On a personal level bladeboss, I don't much care for Cold Steel products. Literally nothing about most of their folders does anything for me. The designs don't appeal to me, the blade steel isn't very good, and you don't get as much value for the price as it seems you get elsewhere. That's just my take on them. I'd much rather spend my money on something from the big three, knowing that I'm going to get decent value for the money and I get a good warranty as well. With Cold Steel, that seems to be a tossup. I do have to admit that I like the designs of some of their fixed blades, but they seem to be priced way higher than is warranted. Just my opinion.

I can respect that. i just don't see any need to hang 200+ lbs off a folder. Are you going to use it to scale walls with it like Wolverine?;)
