Why is there sometimes snobbery against Cold Steel knives? They are great!

Isnt the Blue Para2 m390 cost more than 200$? Last time i checked on ebay since i really wanna get one, it was 235$.

Where did you get an M390 PM2 for $35 (1/2 price G10 medium Espada) or $65 (1/2 price aluminum Espada). Hell, you can buy both at regular web price for the cost of the M390 PM2
I thought they ran in the 300 range. I got my m390 for 187 from Bento after shipping and I saw a few sell at 150 used. Either way even a regular pm2proves my point. Cold steel isn't worth it(tryin to retail)
Hey, CK, whatever happened to your blue PM2 scales? Was that you that I was talking to about them a couple months back?

oh I traded from my zaan got a good deal

I just got in the mail today y first CS Recon 1. For the money I think it's a pretty good buy. It opens easily one handed, solid lockup,no blade play and it has a nice even grind. It came sharp enough to shave the hair off my arm. It also feels good in the hand. It's a keeper.

reasons not to buy a cold steel
. fit and finsih
. blade steels
. where there made
. the advertising
. the owner
. horrible slicers

i own a recon 1 and im not over impressed with the triad lock. i have play in every direction possible after about 6 months of being my go to beater knife.

after all a knife is a cutting tool. i use my knife to cut open a box, cut tape , cut food , cut rope etc....... i dont slam it into a tree to do pull ups or cut open my car hood for better ventlation.

know i will explain why i like a company like spyderco who is well renound on these forums

. fit & finnish
. awesome blade steels
. good blade coatings
. awesome slicers
. some are made in the made in the usa ( my fav. models)
. and the guys who run the company ( sal & eric ) are good honest people.

when knives are a hobby are passion you want to spend money, enjoy details , and like the aspects of the company and cold steel does not do it for me.

My Mini AK-47 has awesome Fit and Finish.
And who cares about the owner? Do you get a copy of the owner when you buy the knife to follow you around?
Hate the knife for physical traits if you want to, but the fact that LT is unliked has absolutely nothing to do with the knife. Totally different subject.

Btw those who argue the triad lock. Tell me. How many times has an axis or integral or compression lock failed u? It's like putting expensive tires on a Toyota carolla

Does anyone know the answer to this??!!! I was gonna buy a Cold Steel but if I get a Lynn Thompson with it, I'll...

You know what? Not worth it. Cancelling my order. *shudder*

*parks car around back.
:o

Come on. :o thats not what i meant.
What im trying to say, is that its not fair to hate something because of the marketing or the owner

Nah, I know. I agree with you. His business practices might not be in-line with everyone else's, and I do take some issue with the topic of stolen designs, but he seems nice enough. Never met him.

I like the looks of most of the folders.
Recons, American Law"men", AK-47's
At least he likes his job...

The owner of a company is a big influence on my purchase.I think Lynn Thompson is a douche. I like to buy knives from a company that is run by good people that are honest and friendly and don't boast that their knives are the best. I will never own a microtech knife and I'm not planning on buying any striders either. That is just my opinion.

everyone feels differently. I like Cold Steel KNIVES. Nothing else about them.
Cheap, strong knives, and i like G10.
My opinion, your opinion.
:)

Well guys. At least it could be worse. At least blade doesn't support mantis lol. To each his own I guess ppl.will evolve in their knife careers

I don't have a problem with Cold Steel's knives. I don't really care that they make them overseas, either. I also don't hate LT, I think he's kinda funny in a cartoonish sort of way. The only company owner I have a problem with is Mick Strider, because he's a flat out liar. That being said, why don't I buy Cold Steel?

1. Whole "lock strength fad" is silly. Don't care whether it's tri-ad lock, axis lock, or compression lock. I like the axis and compression locks for other reasons than their supposed strength. Furthermore, what about the days when there were only slip joints? People still got the job done without any lock at all.
2. AUS8, covered this already, wish they still used VG-1.
3. Warranty ain't the best. Kershaw/ZT sets the gold standard on that.

Those are just my reasons. Cold Steel is just different. I don't think they make crap, they just don't make the stuff I want/need.
