Why is there sometimes snobbery against Cold Steel knives? They are great!

The only company owner I have a problem with is Mick Strider, because he's a flat out liar.

odd. Mick strider only lied about himself (and what he based his standards on etc all that stuff)
Jarrod of Mantis lied about his product.
I agree with the points u made. Had a VG1 model Triple action, I found it chipped to much and became like a serrated blade

Whole "lock strength fad" is silly. Don't care whether it's tri-ad lock, axis lock, or compression lock. I like the axis and compression locks for other reasons than their supposed strength. Furthermore, what about the days when there were only slip joints? People still got the job done without any lock at all.

I totally agree with this (Along with the rest of your post) If i had just one spyderco UKPK in foliage green g10 with the drop point blade for the rest of my life I'd be set. Unfortunately, They don't make that exact model anymore:(

I certainly don't give the Mantis guy a pass either. The thing with Mick Strider is that I'm sure that he makes a good product. I just can't give my money to a guy who lied about serving this country. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

My Mini AK-47 has awesome Fit and Finish.
And who cares about the owner? Do you get a copy of the owner when you buy the knife to follow you around?
Hate the knife for physical traits if you want to, but the fact that LT is unliked has absolutely nothing to do with the knife. Totally different subject.

I care about where my money goes and if buying a CS knife is making that douche bag rich then I won't, and never have.

I'm just curious, and don't mean to de-rail the conversation :D

But do you buy Gasoline or Diesel fuel? Or buy things that were moved on a truck or train? Take a look at who is getting the proceeds from that before you start talking about who gets your money.
I'd bet you spend a lot more on fuel and food than you do on knives.

his beard adds to the credibility of his logic

The strong point of cold steel is an overrated and overbuilt lock. And aus8 steel? I'll pass, some people think sanrenmu knives and kershaw crowns are "sweet knives". No, no, no. They are a good value and good beater knives, but the claims made by some people in this thread are rediculous and smell of someone who has never owned a high end knife, value is decided by user (I can't quite justify a sebenza) but I don't pretend that my endura 4 is as nice as a Sebenza.

On a side note, Cold steel makes mid to lower range knives, and my opinion is not fact, but the first spyderco I purchased was the last time I would ever waste my money on a gimmicky mall ninja tough guy knife company like cold steal. If you like them you like them, but don't make outrageous claims about the knives being the best knives on the planet like it's fact.

I don't really have a choice on some things, I do on knives and guns, we could turn this political but I'll leave it at that. Havn't ever set down and figured it up but I probably spend more on knives and guns than anything else if not it would be pretty close.

I think all of these people coming in these threads and saying the same song that goes along the lines of : "my cold steel knife with tri ad lock has up & down, side to side blade play" is just a bunch of trolls spreading lies.

I had quite a few CS folders with a Tri Ad lock and none of them has blade play unless I loosen the torx srew all the way out when I disassemble the knife.....I carried the 2011 Voyager every day at work since October and dropped it on the ground a few times getting out of my truck and what not and have never had any issues........these knives are built like tanks and are intended for hard work, not for making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches like you knife snobs do with your overpriced knives that cost as much as a handgun.

Welcome to the latest CS thread, they attract those types.

Praise the Lord that we live in an age when the best thing we have to worry about is a $50 pocket knife.

Trying to trade half the Cold Steels I have, nobody wants them.

Every Cold Steel I have owned has had a terrible heat treat... either completely assy edge retention, or brittle to the point of chipping out during regular use.

Combine that with the annoying "better than everyone else!" stuff that lures newer knife folks in, and there you have it.

I consider myself a real fan of the Cold Steel Tri-Ad knives, but I have seen vertical blade play develop on my AK-47 folder. It's very limited and can only be felt if you really grab the blade and wiggle it with force. The reason is that the stop pin has some minor play in its hole in the handle, so the entire blade/stop pin/lockbar combination moves forward/backward.
We're talking about fractions of a millimeter here, but still noticeable. Doesn't effect function in any way though!

Isnt the Blue Para2 m390 cost more than 200$? Last time i checked on ebay since i really wanna get one, it was 235$.

It can still be purchased direct from the retailer for around 180. People selling it for more than that are jumping the gun on the exclusive being discontinued.

Kinda doubt that unless they where their lowest end stuff they sell as in 4116 krupp....

AUS-8 will roll before it chips.......... ;)
