Why no bad press and / or journalistic public shaming of Bear & Son??

EXACTLY, in HERE us FORTUNATE FEW are armed w/ the info. we need to avoid them. What about the countless millions who DO NOT own a computer, have access to the internet or know how to use and / or navigate it??

By the general consensus I seem to be getting here, I guess it's just too bad, so sad and up sh*t creek for them huh?

What's that old saying? Something about not needing enemies w/ 'friends' like these?? ;)

Here's an idea, for those "countless millions who DO NOT own a computer", why not help them out with something REAL, like say, clean water, or perhaps giving to a charity that supports the poor? Do you really think that's something that ANY of us should care in the slightest about? I mean, frankly, I think you have ridiculous priorities, and you should take a step back and evaluate your train of thought.

Since we're all supposedly knife fans here to some degree or another, here's a line of dialogue that most here should be fairly familiar with...."They drew first blood...not me" - John Rambo. ;)

Who drew first blood, killer?

Really, this is all getting too weird even for me. I am outta this scene, dude.

There's lots of us that don't own computers.

I'm replying to this post via letter to the editor as I read this article. Of course skynet will probably pirate my letter and post it on some sort of internet forum without express written consent.

Now that's good.

LOL, apparently someone here has been a member for several years and still has either not read and / or comprehended the general guidelines of this forum. It's ok tho, they shouldn't sweat it. I have no ability to resort to disciplinary action :D

1. I don't appreciate you telling me my business. Ive been working with these rules for many years. You, not so much.

2. Your first example is about choosing a knife. Absolutely appropriate.

3. Your second example dates from two years ago. I would not bump it to correct an old error, but this example is also appropriate, showing how to use a knife.

You are new here. Read the rules, read the forums you're interested in,, get a feel for our style, rules, and procedures.

And go preach to journalists in their magazines, not our forums.

Bear & Sons generally compete with Case and cheaper Chinese made knives. Bear & Sons makes the Remington knives now as I understand it. I pretty much won't consider buying one now even though in the past, I was quite pleased with Remington knives (made by Camillus). Bear & Sons could make a higher quality knife, but from what I have seen, they choose not to. Thank goodness we have other manufacturers to choose knives from.

Hint: IF you have an issue with the actions of a moderator here, take it up in private via PM's.

Maybe not the answer to calm your outrage, but most publications are not "journalism" per se, but artful marketing. When a maker/company wants to advertise (spend money) with a publication, they don't want to risk getting a bad review of their product, while simultaneously paying for ad space. In the same vein, publications don't want to risk losing those dollars by doing something that would chase away advertisers. Contrary to what many people seem to think, publications don't make most of their money from subscriptions or point of sale, they make most of their money from selling advertising. So, you're looking for extreme journalistic and editorial integrity in a field controlled by the dollar. Also, "Caveat Emptor". It is the buyer's responsibility to do the research on a product they want to buy. It is not any publication or third-party responsibility to root out bad products and inform us. Like the lines above, they are in business to make money, not be a public service.

Bear and Sons know they make a cheap poorly made product. Their knives already show that.

Some people like buying shitty knives.

So three years is several? Also, keep running your cakehole guy, I have a feeling you're going to learn what "disciplinary action" is soon enough.

Here we are again with a new person showing up telling us how wrong we are. The thread was moved to the correct place. You don't have to like it. You can continue to participate of you can STFU.

He just took a dump in a sales thread. I don't think it will be up long but I did make a screen grab of it:

American Jedi, you might want to look into reading the rules here.

This from the guy who said who tried to chastise others by saying that we "still has either not read and / or comprehended the general guidelines of this forum".

Oh, the irony.

^^^^^^That crap right there makes me angry.^^^^^^^

I am no veteran of bladeforums, but that is just bad manners.

How else will we know the truth about that particular knife? Quit trying to suppress the truth, sir. ;)

You are right. What was I thinking. He could have a new mod position in the exchange where he posts in threads when he thinks what people are trying to sell sucks. I mean, his opinion and knowledge is so well reasoned and all.....

I haven't seen much "public shaming" of this company, but I also know for a fact that I haven't seen many, if any, people recommending them to others.

And I don't think you need these theatrics to get your point across. The folks on this forum, including me, don't like drama.

From general discussion forum guidelines...." Topics.

The discussion forums are for knife discussion in general

Post in other forums available for non-knife subjects and or buying and selling.

Posters are expected to be nice and post with respect even when disagreements arise.
(How else are we going to learn).

Buying and selling as well as advice on who to buy from and where can a knife be found belong in the exchange forums with advice seeking in the Good Bad and Ugly forum.

Political topics will not be tolerated in the General Knife Forums, expect an infraction should you decide to do so. Use the political forum for those types of comments, trolling and insults are not acceptable in the knife discussion forums. Neither are inappropriate images.

If you desire to make inflammatory posts we have a place for that called Whine & Cheese, but fair warning it is not for sensitive eyes and ears and the rules are a heck of a lot more relaxed in there. It is best to get the feel of the place before bursting into W&C, but the burst ins can occasionally be entertaining. The same goes for posts that come across as having the intention of or resulting in stirring the pot in an inflammatory manner (I.E. trolling).

We want you to relax, enjoy yourself here and make friends while you are learning. There will always be differing ideas and opinions expressed. Some you will agree with and others you will not agree with. There will also be some incorrect opinions offered up. The differences can be discussed without getting into personal comments. Our opinions are based on our experiences and none of us has seen everything yet.

Over the last decade of BFC's existence the greatest experience for me has been the friendships that have developed; they have become more important than the knives. I wish the same experience for all who participate here.

If I can ever help with anything, drop me a line."

Bastid (aka Gus Kalanzis)

Well, I'm sorry but based on what I've read here I am failing to see how my thread topic was inappropriate for general discussion in any way and required being mothballed to some other less relevant category. Lest it had been done for no other reason than...pure spite. But, whatever *smh*

As far as posting on the other gentleman's knife advertisement is concerned, I'll admit fault there as I did not read the regulations for that section of this forum (I'm sure it likley in totality comes in PDF format in several volumes like encyclopedia britannica)...my bad. :)

Yeah! You tell em how it is! Come on, you've got to have more brilliant nuggets of wisdom.

As a matter of fact, you know what Esav? I'm getting REALLY sick of this whole experience that has born fruit in this thread from nothing more than trying to have a mature GENERAL discussion about knife quality. People apparently just don't want to talk about bad news (even if it is knife related). THERE, I GOT IT...I'll just chalk it up to a hard lesson learned. I think I feel a headache coming on so please...just lock-out this thread.
