Why so much rudeness and anger in the Cantina?

Yeah, Howard, I got one of those with the generic white handle that was on sale. Wow, what a blade. Someday I hope to have some stag scales for it.
I've joined the straight razor forum, but I've just been lurking. Acquired a couple of decent razors off the 'bay (and a couple of turkeys).
So far the big Henckels is the best shaver, followed closely (and curiously) by an old "Electric" 5/8 barber notch from aroung 1910.

Razors are almost as addicting as khuks.

Hell, I wouldn't even spring for one of the name brands; my triple-pinned wonder with the canary yellow celluloid handle is a Zartina 5/8. Despite the fact that it's nearly half worn out it remains as the superior edge taker and edge holder in my meager collection. It performs an order of magnitude better than my brand new Thiers-Issard, but that may be simply because it sharpens so much more easily.

Got a 4000/8000 Norton waterstone and some micropolishing film on the way from Lee Valley. If I can't get it sharp with that, I'm selling the accursed thing and using the money to buy more off-brand German antiques. I know a good thing when I see it. :)

Make mine good English steel if you please. Steve F. recently sent me a really old (real horn handles) George Wolstenholm "I.X.L." razor. Mean old cutthroat razor, but shaves like an absolute prince. I like it so much, my other razors have fallen into disuse. I will confess to owning and using at least one German razor, a gift from that crazy Duck. Oddly enough, a Henckels Friodur, and as others here have already noted, a very sweet shaving razor. In spite of being made of <gasp> stainless steel, it really takes and holds a superior edge. And, unlike carbon razors that have to be tended very carefully in the field to prevent rust, this one will take a downpour, or a dunking in the creek, in stride. Tricky old Duck, that's exactly why he gave it to me. :D

German carbon steel went dont hill on average about 1916 I think, English was good till 1935, But European Victorian or anything quality pre about 1905, will work, {they made cheap low quality stuff as well even then, of course, so one has to be picky. } but I am with Sylvrfalcon antique English razors are the best.:D

I an sure there are some lovely exceptions though.;)

Ive had loads of all sorts, but for weddings & first dates, {less I am doing the rough & ready look, ;) }my Taylors Eye witness 3000 cant be beat. {range started at 100 so the 3000 is nice.}

Doesnt hardly leave a blue tint even.

IMHO, folks should think of the Cantina as stepping into someone's house as a guest. How would you act in that situation? Respectful and considerate. Simple enough. We are all guests here.

The word "cantina" makes me think of a friendly neighborhood bar or pub: more raucous than a tea party, it's OK to sometimes sing along with band or juke box, an occasional spilled drink is no problem, but no spitting or fighting.

We DO have a spitton around here someplace, or at least we did have a spitton around here someplace...

It was pulled off the floor, it's fermented contents filtered and served to members sometime after midnight...

Had a surprisingly fruity nose, a mid-palate of cassis and raspberries, and a strong finish with hard tannins and a hint of tar...
