No, what's ridiculous is for you to presume that your personal interpretation of his actions does in fact define his actions.

A mans motives are his own, your opinion of his actions don't change his motives. Just because you don't agree with his motivation, that doesn't mean his motivations weren't exactly what he says they were.

If Charlie Mike smashes his watch with a sledge hammer, and says he's doing it to protest the killing of baby seals, then that is exactly what he is doing, whether you agree with it or not.

I admire Matt (Charlie Mike) for a few reasons displayed in this thread- He's a perfect example of "If it's yours, then you can do whatever you want with it". And I admire the fact that he does what he wants with HIS property and doesn't give a rats ass if anyone doesn't like what he does with HIS property. And then there's the fact that he doesn't get the least bit defensive or offended when people criticize him and give him crap about what he does with HIS property. Always a cool head (like someone who doesn't give a rats ass).

I also admire him for other reasons, but those are the ones displayed in this thread.

What is it about some people that they feel the need to try and impose their "values" on others, and criticize them for having different values? Sure, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and to post their opinion on this forum, but why does anyone really care what someone else chooses to do with THEIR property, or what their motives are? Unless you're one of those people who likes to believe that you are always right, that your way is THE ONE TRUE RIGHT WAY, and that anyone who thinks or does differently is wrong.

I don't intentionally mar or damage my property, but I say "more power to those who want to", whatever their reasons might be.

Killgar killed it here. Seriously, the gall someone has to try to impose their...nevermind, Killgar covered it.

CM, you keep doing you, brother.

Hey, its his he can do anything he wants, heck he can flush it down his toilet for all that matters to me. I just don't think he's sending any message other than looky looky what I did I damaged my watch.

Oh my god, I think you actually believe this.

He does. What is so shocking about that?

killgar nailed it...

Its pretty clear that its inconceivable/ridiculous to you that anyone would act or think in a way differently that you. Though, I guess that has been the whole point of the thread from the very beginning... :(

Your inability to grasp the point CM's demonstration was making doesn't mean others haven't.

And good for you that you dont "get" what he's up to. But that doesn't give you the right to ridicule it.

I can't help myself. My fanciest folder is a vallotton I thought about leaving it in the box but... That thought didn't last long it went squirrel hunting a few days later and it was down hill from there. Its in the rotation . If I had a sebenza it would cut stuff regularly. They look more utilitarian than most knives anyways.

Heck there are tons of examples throughout history where some of the worst of deeds were able gain acceptance, that doesn't mean they were always the best of ideas to begin with.

How has what CM has done to his watch in any way an example of some sore of historic "worst of deeds"?!? Aren't you getting a bit dramatic?

Guy did something to his watch. Like other guys do something to their knives.

And you dont like it, and all of a sudden they are atrocities?

No what he did was not an atrocity.

However just because his act has gained acceptance by some people, doesn't mean that its a good idea.

I suppose when Godwin's Law comes into play it becomes time to....

So many people pass judgement on others because the others are themselves passing judgement.
Go figure.

If he did, it's waterproof to something like the Mariana Trench rating.

So what's bad about what he did then? Other than you wouldn't do it.

I think my only point has been that there is no point or message being sent when one damages their own possessions on purpose other than your damaging your possessions.

As they say on @knifehaterz ... "I got you, fam"

Deep Sea Challenge maybe, but not the Deep Sea he owns. Hardly any reason many would need that thank god, but Rolex doesn't actually sell that one.

Well. If you don't get it, or why he did it, then you don't.

But calling what he did "ridiculous" because you don't get it is insulting, in my opinion.

Quiet and killgar nailed it and are worth quoting again...

Well I did try not to be insulting, but frankly I just couldn't think of any other words to express my opinion of his actions with that last reply. To think your sending some kind of message when damaging your possessions is absurd. To be honest his second video just kind of reinforces my original thoughts. So if he wants to damage his stuff and make videos about it more power to him.

Why...has this gone on for ten pages?

I keep clicking hoping that someone has said something profound, but its the same off topic arguments dragging on, and on, and on, and...
