If you're working in Idaho, you can always drop by CRK and pick up a Sebenza. Just don't get it dirty.:D

^ Another good laugh- thanks! :D

It's funny that you mentioned that! :onthego: I actually drove through Boise, on my way up to North Central Idaho, where I spent 6 months working this past, Summer/Fall. While I was up there, I sent my CRK Zaan in for a spa treatment, & ended up buying a CRK Sebenza Unique Graphic (NIB), here on the forum. It's one of thee prettiest knives that I've owned, & one that I just can't bring myself to use. I'll probably be listing this one soon...unless that is- somebody here would rather see me make a video of myself taking a grinder to it? :apathy:

As for the new Ford F150 I bought (the pristine white one without a single dent)...heck, I might as well pull a CharlieMike...crash my fender into something & just get it the hell over with. :D

Hell, just key the bumper ;)

I'm making a point. Spending an outrageous amount of money on an everyday item ... but trying to keep it looking pristine is a waste of money.

You could make the point even better if you gifted that messed up watch to a Maritimer with a black kayak for an avatar:thumbup::D

I'm confused, I thought the message was mess it up so you can show it that it don't own you and you own it.

Be confused. 2 sides of the same coin.

I beat the hell out of mine today

Ah, damaged goods is good in other words. LOL

It's just a watch. Watches get dinged up when you never take them off. What's another series of dings? That much and more will happen through my lifetime of wearing it. The cost of the item shouldn'tprohibit the owner from getting full use of it.

Oh, I'm well aware that dings and scratches happen. Heck I got out of my car last winter on a cool but not a cold day and walked around the car to check something when I slid and fell down when wearing one of my subs. Sure enough I scratched the clasp because it was one of the things to make contact with the concrete when I fell. I have various scratches and such on my other watches as well. So life does happen, but I don't have to go out of my way to make my stuff look all beat up or inflect senseless damage to something in order to enjoy it.

Blade dude, why does it bother you that someone buys a nice knife to look at?

I have a few sebenzas, they all get used. But I know some sebenza owners never use them, no skin off my cheeks.

I guess I inflicted senseless damage when I engraved the case back with "M. Freeman" and the last 4 of my SSN?

Same with this... each year I have been sober, I gouge a mark into the handle.

I've mentioned this before, but I'll say it again; lots of people who are far from 'rich' won't hesitate to blow a couple hundred bucks for a night on the town, and many so-called 'poor kids' have $300+ basketball shoes. How long does one night on the town or a pair of kids' shoes last? Yet nobody seems to think twice about those. In comparison, a standard CRK Sebenza (for example) doesn't seem so unreasonably expensive, does it? Everyone will spend their money on whatever they deem is worthwhile to them.

I agree that the exact same subject comes up every week, as if the question asked is something original. People use their knives for whatever and how much they choose to, and that's awesome, IMO. It's not something that anyone else needs to bang their own heads agonizing over trying to figure out.

Now THAT is a good use of a nice quality pricey knife. Something you cherish enough to carry everyday! And it's a knife too!
Great picture! Did you do the engraving, besides the year notch?
Like, I never understood people with those plastic seat covers in their car. Sweat like crazy, sticking to the seats, just so that the next owner gets nice seats? No way man...

The other engraving was done by Darrel... CNC.

Your posts are always awesome and entertaining

Though I must ask, do you keep things pristine for formal events? I wouldn't want to wear a scratched Rolex (as if I could afford one anytime soon) to a dance or meeting, you know? I think it is kind of cool to have something pristine to show off.

I just feel like keeping prized possessions pristine is a source and contribution to self simultaneously if that makes sense. I feel like having something perfect will reflect other endeavors. But enough of that nonsense, hopefully someday I will have the means to take a dremel to a Rolex and give people near heart attacks :D

This subject has been discussed many times and nothing will ever change the fact that some people use there knives and some don't. I have though discovered a solution. Get Charlie Mike to make a knife for you great prices and you can't hurt it. I have used and abused this knife to a point of what some would consider madness. It has been batoned hard, opened bags of concrete, cut drywall, took a trip through the washing machine, pried firewood to split it, used as a screwdriver, cut up old tires to make my wife some planters, cut catv wire. You name it and I've done it to this knife and it's going strong I use it as a neck knife and always have it with me so what ever chore that confronts me this is my go to tool. Some of you may think why in the world would do this to a custom handmade knife and the answer is simple. Because it's mine and I bought it to use The first picture is from when it was new the second I just took.

Formal like going to court?

That's the last time I ever got dressed up for anything. This is how I look 7 days a week, even at church.
