Will there be a 2017 forum knife?

Same here and I just wait for them to start taking orders. Then I wonder what knife I am ordering and do I really want it?? That's why I agree with JC57, give them a cookie.

Maybe change it up a bit and do something like this? :D

id buy that! maybe three like the 2014 bladeforums stag jack

Philllll, I was just thinking that custom BF engraved T-Pops would be perfect. Inexpensive, useful, and a blank slate! :p

Chalk me up as hoping there will be a 2017 forum knife. I joined in 2015, and thoroughly enjoying the process of voting for, and then receiving, that year's lovely Canal Street knife. I sat out 2016's knife because I hadn't yet ventured into carbon steel, but my toe is one knife deep into those waters as of this year.

Many thanks to Charlie and Barry for making the forum knives happen. I can only imagine how much work and hassle is involved. I certainly wouldn't begrudge anyone not wanting to work on a project like this -- but if you do, I'll be eagerly following along as the project proceeds from notion to knife.

OK, so back to the dream....

I'm going to put in my vote for a Scagel style fixed blade with ostrich bone covers and a small folder in the handle. Make it out of S30V with stainless frame and sterling silver arrowhead shield. Might as well add a caplifter/shell puller to the back side and make it a "lobster fixed blade hunter camp knife". That should please most everybody! Oh yeah; throw in a quality tooled leather sheath and do it for under $100 if possible!:eek::eek::eek::D:D:D

Make it a partially serrated tanto and I'll order two ;)

I usually lose interest in the BF knife somewhere around page 3. Made it it page 6 this year.
I know - we seem to have gone off script. We should be seeing the first death threats by now, and someone should have already started the bonfire. A few chiclets at least. I have faith, though. Maybe tomorrow.

I don't carry fixed blades. Way to go.

Well, since we know GEC is going to make a run of #48 pattern knives this year, why not aim for one of those in classic Jack configuration (long clip and pen), bareheaded, with some nice scales? They could maybe even have them ready by November.

I'd hate not to see a forum knife for 2017, and I deeply regret the limited numbers of makers who could work with a "short" order of 300. One of the major issues has been the $100 price point we have trouble getting over, and I think that would be an issue with European vendors, mainly due to tariffs. It would be nice to have the ability to reach out to Asia like A G Russell does.

there is a trick to influencing people. The trick is to put out a logical argument and let people think it over and come to the same conclusion on their own.

No one but me may remember, but i take credit (if only in my own mind) for being the pebble that started the avalanche that resulted in the success of the 2014 bf knife. In this post: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1160105-2014-forum-knife?p=13273943#post13273943 i suggested that we needed a wise leader (i used the term 'czar') who would steer us in the direction of rationality and only allow those choices that made sense.

We got charlie campagna, who is who i had in mind in the first place, and he led us to a glorious result in the 2014 stag forum knife. I am not the king. I am the king-maker.

For my next mind control trick - jack black, you seem thirsty. Wouldn't a nice cool beverage hit the spot about now?

:d:d:d

So can we get a cap lifter on the 2017 knife or what????:p

I like this idea, the Forum knife on the #85 frame with this tool is legendary!
Imagine a Northfield Eureka Jack with Long pull and swedge, cl, brass liners and some fine jigged bone handle.

As I said, make it a simple two blade knife and I'm in. Prefer something in the 3 7/8" (closed) or larger frame.

I actually kinda liked the way the old NKCA and many knife groups did their yearly knives. All of a sudden "SURPRISE, this is what we chose, this is what you get". I know it didn't give members a vote, but it also eliminated all bickering.

I vote for an adjustable length pocket light saber with an antler handle for that nod to tradition. And a bail, and a cap lifter, and.......

I'm new here. Just returning to traditionals from years of plastic one-handed pocket clip knives. I will be along for the ride. A forum knife would be cool. I'll probably buy one regardless of what is decided on.
